Went there on Sunday 2pm for happy hour & it was empty. I was the only one. The service & food was top notch. The chef took pride in his work & he was checking with me how’s the food & everything. I was hungry, so I ordered a lot, but every single time he gave me something & it tasted like it’s better than the last one. The fish tasted fresh & some of the toppings were mind blowing. Not a big time sushi lover, I’m more like baked roll kinda guy. But even I was super impressed by the amazing taste & quality of the foods.

This is a sushi place were the sushi chefs have minimal or no formal sushi training. Egg sushi was not even real egg, but rather a yellow gelatinous cube on rice – it was sweet and flat-out gross. The rice was slightly undercooked – pathetic for a sushi restaurant. And lastly they substituted one type fish for another – 🙁

I’m currently sitting at a sushi spot in CO writing this review bc I miss this place so much. Kazoku was the very first sushi place I had ever been to and I compare every sushi place to it. At the time I was there regularly they had an “All you can eat” option, I’m not sure if they still offer it. Amazing fish quality, great prices, and a great atmosphere. When I come back to visit LA it’s definitely on my list of stops!

Found this place based on yelp reviews. We were visiting Griffith observatory and decided to go here for dinner after a nice evening at Griffith observatory. Even though it says they have valet parking inside but it was self parking.
