The Farm, at 17 South is a mandatory rest stop on highway 17 south headed towards Tappahannock, VA. A hidden gem of a five star ⭐️ cuisine tucked into a small restaurant. The atmosphere is eclectic with little knickknacks hanging on the wall that adorns this establishment. The staff was friendly, professional and courteous as I looked over the menu. I made my selections and before I could sit down the food was ready to go. I didn’t mind a walk around to stretch my legs or if I wanted to eat inside the restaurant or dine outdoors on this gorgeous pre-summer day. As I tore through my yummy lunch, I knew one thing for sure is I will be back for more. If you’re headed South on 17, check out The Farm, at 17 South you will not regret it. And your stomach will appreciate the amazing farm fresh food.

Love it! Familiar atmosphere, right next to the good old US 17. Food is great, prices reasonable, and great spend an our or two on the porch or in the garden; green tomatoes, pickles, catfish sandwich, and chicken fingers are delish.

Not a huge selection but everything came out fast and hot! Cheese fries with extra cheese and sour cream. Asked for ranch and they have a delicious dill ranch. Hit the spot. Chicken tenders in a waffle cone with spicy maple syrup. Syrup spiced with Thai chili sauce…so yummy! Others in party had hamburger steak with homemade mashed potatoes and greens. Coleslaw also delicious and I’m picky about mine because mom’s was so good. Just a laid back country cafe with great food, large portions and pleasant staff. Staff a little slow today but may not be the norm. Just had to find her to get our check but not a biggie. Overall highly recommend.

Cute homey environment and the staff were nice and fast, considering it was a pretty busy Friday night. Only really 1 option for vegetarians unfortunately (veggie burger) but I did enjoy it. I know this part of the state doesn’t really have a vegetarian population but I think it would be nice for travelers like me going through. The fried green tomatoes were an awesome appetizer too. I’d love to see them add a few more things to the menu!

We’ve stopped here several times for lunch when visiting the area. Staff has always been very accommodating, friendly, and attentive. Broccoli salad is a favorite. Many creative selections, but some of the crispy items lose their crunch in the sandwiches. Recommended!

5 stars for this restaurant. Food is fresh, hot, made from scratch and delicious. Cannot emphasize enough how delicious the food tastes. Owners are very personable and down to earth. We visit there every Friday night and love having Grace and Mattie for our waitresses. Excellent service.

Excellent lunch service. I will definitely be back to try breakfast and dinner services. The crab nachos had fair amount of crab meats and a huge helping of bisque. The fried chicken topped salad was HUGE! The burger was a little over cooked but still juicy and flavorful.

Walked into the restaurant not a single waitress acknowledged my friend and myself. Told us very rudely to sit down at the front table, took about 5 minutes for someone to get us drinks. The waitress then said “I’ll be right back” and processed to go to the register with the other waitress and flirt with 2 men for nearly 10 minutes. So we walked out. Horrible service, didn’t feel welcomed, and they need tos top rolling their eyes at customers.
