First time. Had high hopes for a local source of Louisiana style dish’s. We had two chicken sandwiches with fries and a small ettouffee. See pictures of the fries. Over fried and over salted. The chicken was just over fried. The ettouffee have excellent flavor but was cold so I took it home to heat it. Seriously I really wanted this place to be good. I wish them the very best and hope they can do better.

I really wanted this place to be great but it was underwhelming. The pros: they were very nice taking my phone order, they stayed open for me to pick up my order, and the fries were not bad… nothing remarkable but fine. The cons: though the chicken was large is was very dark and very dry. Half of my piece was inedible (see photo). It was $64 to feed 4 people. I’m willing to pay boutique prices if it’s amazing but I was not impressed. The patron side of the place was really dirty… the one working bathroom was really bad… like bad bad… no soap a damp roll of paper towels sitting on the toilet, and I’m not even going talk about the toilet or floors. There was a filthy rag laying on the counter where you receive your order and all the points of contact were discolored with dirt. I honestly would have walked out if I had not ordered in advance. The cook was wearing gloves but based on the front of house was still wary.

Excellent excellent!!!! Some of the best food I’ve had in a long time . Ordered the special of Shrimp n Catfish étouffée was delicious. Also ordered the chicken sandwich which was amazing of course it came with hand cut fries!!!

Steve and Bennys has done countless events I have participated in. When I was getting chemo at West Penn, they catered lunch for the entire floor and everyone raved about it. They have done two golf outings for me as well and I’m still getting texts for their information because it was outstanding. They opened a South Hills location so I had to try it also (love to Recon for awesome beer always!). These guys are regulars on the scene and for good reason. Without a doubt they’re my first call and my first choice for a referral. They will customize the menu and options to your event, Chef Ben is a true hidden gem. Keep your eyes peeled for their next project, Monaca Brewing Company! I’m so excited to frequent to enjoy delicious food and locally brewed beer!

Steve & Benny’s Chicken Shack catered for two days at Living Water Family Church in Monaca! First time tasting their food and believe me won’t be the last time either. We used Steve and Bennys food truck for a private event. I had been communicating with Steve regarding the time, price and logistics for months in advance. We had the BEST experience. Benny is so personable and he made sure that every conversation with our guests was kind and valued. The food was delicious, the truck showed up on time. Our friends and family were thrilled. Can’t thank you enough!
