As I was entering the establishment, I was greeted warmly by a member of he wait staff. During my entire visit that same staff member took care of me. Each time she approached the it was excuse me before she continued into asking a question. Most places even if your mid conversation they barge up and ask anything. Thank you for your professionalism! It was my first time visiting and before I even got to the food I would come back. Although, I will admit the outside appearance and marketing didn’t exactly lure me into the joint. The food simply sold the place even more. I ordered the blackened chicken alfredo which came with my choice of noodle, salad, and a yummy garlic roll. To start the salad was fresh and good tasting tomatoes which is a plus from no taste soggy tomatoes from other places The alfredo sauce was creamy and seasoned to perfection. Then the chicken further complimented the dish with a little spice. The portion sized I received was very generous which made a wonderful lunch the next day. Now that I’ve gotten the pros out. Let’s talk about the cons. I agree with previous reviews that I am sympathetic to a small business and trying to keep up. However, the anesthetic of the restaurant is very lacking. It appears more like a grungy bar with an odd mixture of design choices. Also, I noticed the ac condensation hitting my arm and the otherside of my table. The food and friendly staff is most definite their saving graces.

While I can appreciate the challenges associated with running and independent restaurant, there are basics which you must have. First you must be able to serve drinks in a timely manner. This did not happen on my visit. Secondly you must cook the food fully. My calazone was not fully baked. Thirdly, get drink refills in a timely manor which did not happen. I see a lot of potential however they must execute on the basics

Passing through Alachua with a growing stomach on the way to a club meeting and decided to stop in for some take out, but…. found out it was karaoke night! My husband was excited so we instead ate at the restaurant. Honestly we had not been to Tony and Al’s in awhile, but the owner remembered us and as always very welcoming along with the his staff . Cowboy Mike was cool

Truly one of the warmest welcomes I’ve experienced in a long time. Al and the staff are SO lovely. My pizza out of the wood burning oven was delicious. My friend’s homemade marinara sauce w pasta was great too.

Food tastes great and is if great quality. Service was very good. The waitresses were very nice. Atmosphere was very comfortable. Shout out to the “killer bees” (a musical duo comprised of two skilled musicians) – they killed it with their playing! 10/10 – No complaints; totally recommend!

Wow! I should have know this was an excellent place. My dad has been telling me about this place for so so long. The pizza is amazing. It’s hard to impress me with pizza. It’s my favorite food and I have high standards for my pizza. The calzone is equally a delightful meal. The true test was to see if it was as good cooled down and the next day. Passed the tests very well. I’m going to try it again to see if magic happens twice. I should also mention I make the drive from Gainesville. Worth the trip! The prices are incredible for what I got and the amount I received. Great food an prices! If you want more your greedy. Anyone who says this place is run down, just doesn’t know that’s the best sign of a great and well loved restaurant. I’d would rather the focus be on that the staff is taken care of and the food is great. The important stuff. If grandma changed her house around it probably wouldn’t feel like grandma’s anymore. Same with restaurants. Nostalgia takes a bit to build, with an awkward phase in between. When you go to a place that’s been open a million years and it hasn’t changed, it’s the best!

Great experience! Very good server and the chef was excellent. We had an appetizer of bruschetta, 2 salads, ravioli carbonara, garlic and olive oil spaghetti with a side of sausages, 2 slices of garlic toast and 2 glasses of pinot. Our bill was $57 plus tip. Everything was temperature appropriate and tasted wonderful. We sat at a window table and listened to old tunes from the ’50s and ’60s. We will be back!

Went there early evening we were a party of 9 men, the staff were super friendly and attentive the food was slow coming out but that’s the price you pay for great food. Everything was cooked correctly and came out fresh from the brick oven . I gave only 3 stars for atmosphere due to the place is old and could use some refreshing.

Food is freshly made and delicious! Not from under warmer lamps. To die for. One of the owners came out to see how we enjoyed our food. A live performance was getting ready to start as we left. If you leave hungry or dissatisfied, it’s on you. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Sadly I expected more based on the high ratings. I really looked forward to trying this place. The atmosphere was great! There was live music and the restaurant was quaint. The service was excellent! The restaurant was a little run down. Things that don’t seem to be major, could easily be repaired to give it a face lift. The food was not terrible but I’ve had better. My bruschetta pasta had probably a whole bag of Mozzarella cheese on it. Typically that pasta comes with a light, buttery sauce. That’s why I ordered it. The French fries had a ton of salt on them! I’d try the place again but would ask questions about my dish before ordering so I could make modifications. I don’t think I can convince my husband or kids to go back there though. Maybe there pizzas are better?
