Decided to stop here for lunch. The front wall had a Texas Monthly “Top 50 BBQ Joints” paper on the wall, so I had high hopes.

First time out here, and I was impressed. Staff is easy going. I was shocked when I received my tab, $10 and some change for a brisket and sausage sandwich, side and drink. Granted it was during their lunch special, but these prices are unheard of when it comes to BBQ. Brisket was smoked perfectly, no dry slices. Spicy sausage was only a compliment to the sandwich. Will be back!

This big red barn has a place in my heart. Childhood memories of stopping by for some brisket on the way back home from San antonio trips with my grandparents. Still as delicious as ever!

My parents and I went on a road trip up to San Antonio from Mexico, Pearsall was the last town for a while so we stopped here to get some food. Quaint little place, great prices, and the food was so good that we went out of our way to stop by on our way back home

I was passing through and wanted a chopped brisket sandwich. I had been here before a few years ago and had their sausage and sliced brisket, which I thought was pretty good. This time though, what happened? There was no smoke smell or pit going, meaning that all of their meat for the day was already cooked and ready to serve. I thought that was a good thing being prepared for the day, but when the gentleman pulled the brisket out of a container of water, I didn’t know what to think. I should’ve cancelled my order and left, but I didn’t. He buttered and toasted the bread, chopped up the portions of brisket, and made my two sandwiches. I opened up one in my car, and the brisket lacked any color, no smoked smell, and no flavor. Sitting any type of meat in water may keep it moist, but any flavor that it had will be gone. Not one of their best days, but I’m not writing them off.

BBQ Brisket was tender. Sausage was tasty. Loved the coleslaw. Beans were okay, but needed more seasoning. All in all I would return again.

Simply great mesquite smoked BBQ. It is cooked the “Texas-way”. Always clean and good. Sometimes crowded, but the line moves fast. They have an extra room for large groups. The BBQ is consistent weather it is catered or dine-in.
