I was excited to stumble across this place, since normally finding a BBQ shack away from town with a full parking lot is a hidden gem, but not this time. Walking in, the deer heads on the wall, the camouflaged, boot-wearing clientele, old-school white menu board, the pie fridge, complete with an extremely friendly and welcoming cashier who helped me select my sides (there’s A LOT!) – what could go wrong? The “BBQ”, that’s what could go wrong. The pork ribs tasted like they’d been brined for a week too long – salty, too soft, and lacking real smoke flavor. The brisket was like something you’d get from a school cafeteria – no smoke flavor, Ultra-thin slices. The sausage was about as exciting as the ride over from SA. It’s sad when the pecan pie, pickled beets and coleslaw were the best parts of the meal. I Should’ve gotten the hint when I saw everyone eating the fried Catfish special instead of BBQ. oddly enough, I may return for the Catfish. ♂️ Definitely would not pay the $30 I paid again.

Great tasting Brisket! No sauce needed. I didn’t care for Pinto Beans. The potato salad was tasty. I took some apple pie to go.

An iconic part of Seguin, Texas. Owned by the same family for more than 50 years. They have a big menu, great sides, always packed at lunch. Awesome homemade pies. Highly recommend if you like to eat where the locals go.

Took my grandson, his wife and their 3 sons to eat here. They loved it. My whole family loves to eat here. From BBQ to chicken and dumplings (only on Saturday) all their food is good.

Food was not good at all. Sides tasted store bought. Was not busy but my order took a long time. I suspect something was frozen. Lady at the counter was not at all helpful. Giant hole in the bathroom door.

It definitely surprised us from the outside. Unassuming and kind of weathered building, but the food was amazing. The catfish was the best I’ve had on this texas trip. Staff was sooo friendly, and the pie was incredible. A++

Definitely a excellent off the path location that should be tried. Step back in time, when lunches were served like home. This quaint stop was amazing. The parking lot was full, the dining room was buzzing with local folks and area workers. The counter staff was incredibly friendly and just delightful. Offerings on the menu are numerous. Once we ordered, the wait was breif and most assuredly worth every minute.

We were given an apple pie from there about a month ago and it was very very good. This week we drove out there (from San Antonio) for an apple pie. Unfortunately this pie was not good at all. The crust and the filling did not taste homemade.

We went for dinner on a Friday, we decided to order to go since it was full seating inside. Wait was not too bad. Food was all so good! Had the catfish, fried zucchini, chicken strips, fries, and the stuffed jalapeños. Definitely returning! We were told You can order over the phone and then just pick up!
