Why ‘Lingr’? It means ‘belonging to,’ and ‘coming or descending from’ — well-expressed definitions for the first solo venture of Chef Jeffrey Jew. Located in the Downtown South University Park area of St. Petersburg, the Nordic and Asian-inspired restaurant will be a mixture of Chef Jew’s love of the local area, his heritage and years of culinary experience. The upscale-casual eatery and bar will be the place where ‘to linger’ will become a part of the definition as well.

Lingr not only serves a fantastic variety of food but, the space, and staff are also fantastic. Our server Elijah was very nice and helpful when we had questions. They gave us some great recommendations as well. They even gave us the instragram account of the person who made the espresso cups after they saw us thoroughly examining them. The bar tender also came by to show us the coffee version of the cup.

We came to Lingr to celebrate a birthday and Norway’s Constitution Day! Everything was incredible, from the cocktails all the way through dessert. Our favorite entrée was the pan seared grouper, but it was all great! The Norwegian pølser and lompe was a favorite too! I wish we could order it year around!

Walking into the minimalist space, curiosity lingers over how the Nordic and Cantonese-inspired cuisine will be? Well it’s simply exceptional. From crafted cocktails to dessert, everything is a blend of deliciousness. The grouper and duck breast are equally satisfying and cooked to perfection. Plus the Brunost poundcakey cheesecake is a heavenly slice to savor. Highly recommended.

Probably the best food we had in Tampa (although I’m told this place isn’t in Tampa proper) although we had to Uber about 35 min to get here.

This is one of this rare times where I’m not sure which was better – the food, or the service. Our server Kyle was the best. Super knowledgeable, friendly, funny, and the perfect amount of attention. He made fabulous suggestions.
