The food was pretty good, but I don’t think they know what “spicy” truly is. Their “hot” chile was somewhere between mild and medium. Their “medium” chile was about as spicy as ketchup. I’m sure for some it might be unbearable (after all, the menu comes with a warning), but for someone who is excited to try the 3x Hatch chiles we just picked up from NM, this was a walk in the park. The food was delicious, though! The service was nonexistant. We will not be returning.

We were en route from Albuquerque to Pueblo, and stopped for gas in Alamosa. It was noon, so I asked the gas station attendant for a recommendation – he said, Nino’s next door is really good. So we went to Nino’s, and it was great! To be safe in an unfamiliar restaurant, I ordered Nino’s Burrito and my wife ordered Nino’s Combination. Both were very delicious! The server Dennis was super friendly and efficient, and our food came out quickly. Atmosphere was very pleasant with lots of locals. Prices were very reasonably. Highly recommended. (Note: there are several Mexican restaurants at that corner, so be sure to select Nino’s!)

When I arrived there, I stood by the podium about five minutes before anybody sat me down. The young man was nice , I sat down and he took my order . Somebody else brought what I ordered. It was a plate, covered with cheese. I ordered one crunchy beef taco and two beef enchiladas in salsa Verde sauce “green sauce.” The sauce wasn’t just green it was red and green, weird and my enchiladas I could not see because they were covered with American cheese, the enchiladas were very soggy, and the meat had no flavor. the taco was the same the meat was flavorless but it was crunchy. The rice that was on the plate was microwaved. So two bites of a taco one bite of my enchilada, and I asked for the check. I paid and left No tip simply because when he sat me down and took my order he never came back somebody else brought me my food. He did come back to bring me the check he asked me how the food was I told him I didn’t like it I only took three bites.. he walked away and I didn’t see him again until I walked up to the register to pay. I left and went to Kentucky fried chicken. the other thing I didn’t know if it was a community center or a restaurant because they had a bridge tournament, taken place a table away for me.

I brought a group of 14 here. They have a room for large groups. You can pay individually. Many of us were from NM. We enjoyed the New Mexican style food with Hatch chile. The bar was nice as well. We had one waitress and she was very good.

Well to start there is a 3.99% charge for using a card. Cool. That was understandable with it being a small business. Then we get told we couldn’t be seated cause we were a party of 8 and only the main dining area was open. That sucked but ok we’re kinda use to waiting for a table being a large family. The final straw was being told we would be charged an automatic gratuity of 18.99% since we were a large party. Now, usually I could understand that however we weren’t planning on ordering for our 1 or 3 year old seeing as they waste so much So they’d be sharing with us but we would still be charged since there’s 8 bodies at the table. We went across the street to Cavillos and were greeted by amazing staff and great food.

Got a tip from a trusted source to try Nino’s green chile. Was just passing through town so got a quart to go. Very good! Also picked up some of their homemade salsa and a crispy relleno. Maybe the most appetizing-looking relleno I’ve ever seen. Too bad it has zero spice, otherwise this would be a five star rating for sure.

I was in Alamosa on business with a large group. Not only were they able to accommodate us, the service was excellent. Then the food, oh my goodness! It was melt in my mouth goodness and just the right amount of heat to make it great. I will definitely visit this location when I’m back in Alamosa the next time.

The entrees we shared were rich and plentiful. Our waitperson took good care of us. Comfortable atmosphere. We are on vacation and passing through, but definitely recommend. Best meal of our trip.
