It took a while to get waited on, but once I got my order in for a delicious homemade strawberry lemonade, things went smoothly from there. I forget the name of the omelet I ordered but it was delicious and the portions are large, very satisfying, and filling. The atmosphere is great. It’s a beautiful restaurant. A visit here is worth the price and I can’t wait to go back.

City center gem! Great prices and a nice atmosphere. Portions are very generous, in hindsight we should have split 1 entree between the two of us. Big heads up, the meat gravy is beef based, not pork based, which may throw you for a loop. It was delicious and went well with the meal. It seems that every item has a little twist, from the mixed potatoes in the home fries to the spice blend in the maple syrup. Very happy we stopped in!

We have been wanting to make it in for breakfast and we finally did today. Luckily at 930 on a Saturday we had no wait at all for a table. Really liked the buttered grits. They weren’t the very best I’ve ever had but they were tasty and it’s not easy finding grits on a menu up here. The handmade sausage patty was delicious as was the country gravy. Really liked the biscuit, though it was a little on the crumbly side. My boy gave a big thumbs up on the country fried steak and potatoes. That is his go to dish anywhere we go. The service was friendly and attentive, no complaints at all. There are a few more things on the menu I want to try so we will be back.

I found this place by looking on maps for a breakfast place that was close to where we were staying. This place was packed, so we knew it had to be good.. we just did not realize how good. Hands down the best chicken fried steak and gravy I have ever had! I chose a waffle for my “side” it was perfectly cooked and slightly crispy, which is how I love a waffle. 10/10 would definitely go back. Dont be discouraged by the long wait if there is one. I promise it will be worth it! The server was so kind as well! I wish i had gotten his name because he was on it!

Soooo, this is going to sound ridiculous but I was in portland for 7 days and ended up going to this place three times for breakfast, yes they’re that good. I have already written one review for them but I feel like another is warranted because they’re so good. So what did I eat? Biscuits and sausage gravy the first day, biscuits and sausage gravy with sausage patty the second time and country fried pork chops with partner 2 the last time, and yes, each time it got better and better. Wife loved the country fried steak and stuck with that so that should tell you something. The portions are generous and really really great tasting. I can’t wait to go back to portland again just for these guys.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. The food was absolutely fantastic. It was my 1st time the are so I ordered 2 main courses and an appetizer. My friend also ordered a main course so we could try several things. The uptown grits were to die for. The chicken and waffles were superb. We will definitely eat here again when visiting.

Came here on the recommendation of people I was traveling with. Not much of a breakfast person, but my friend and I shared a plate of hot links, scrambled eggs and grits with sourdough toast. The hot links were very tasty and had a nice bite to it. Definitely not for timid. The eggs were … Eggs, and the grits were good, but a little too buttery. All in all, not bad. Service was swift and prompt, and portions were hefty. Given the opportunity, I’d come back and try some of their other dishes.

The food was amazing. The shrimp in the shrimp and grits was so juicy and cooked perfectly. The chicken fried steak was also real chicken fried steak, definitely not frozen or processed. The service was also on par, everyone was super helpful and nice. Nothing to complain about, everything to commend.

Upon leaving my hotel across the street on a quick trip to Voodoo doughnuts I see the words “grits” and “gravy” all together….put my shoes in reverse. Amazing staff first off, great mix of old school R&B playing softly, great atmosphere with youth art hung on the walls…let’s get to the food….I was smart and ordered chicken fried steak with 1 less piece of meat and only 2 eggs for 2$ cheaper! The omelettes look amazing they all have 4 eggs chicken fried steak was straight out of a butcher shop, handmade batter, four choices of gravy folks….ok you get the point. Do it!!
