My wife and I got into town late in the evening on a Sunday when most places were closing. We were both craving Mexican food and happened to walk by Maya. The waitress was super friendly and warm. We ordered several plates Togo. She gave us large portions of salsa, guacamole, sour cream and a big bag of chips with our order. Food was quickly made and hot. Not super authentic but we didn’t expect it to be. Which is totally fine, the portions were large and filling. Overall very tasty and hit the spot. Would definitely come back again the next time we are in town. For what food costs these days they definitely give you your moneys worth. Great spot!

This is the second “Mexican” restaurant I’ve visited in Morro Bay and I think it will be the last. Being from L.A. I know authentic Mexican food and this just isn’t it. I’m not saying there isn’t good Mexican food in Morro Bay, I just haven’t found it yet. The food is just ok. It’s fine it you’re in a pinch. The salsa was definitely from a jar. The place was practically empty on Tuesday afternoon. I will say the service was good. If you’re looking for real deal Mexican food, this isn’t it, but if you need a quick bite in a pinch, drop in.

Maybe I’m spoiled when it comes to mexican food but…The food was underwhelming at best. It all lacked seasoning and all the meat was dry and gristle-y. Service was about as good as good as the food.

At first we were worried because there was only one lady serving. But considering it was (I think) her and one cook. The service was pretty good/fast. It may not be for the fancy selfie type people but for the average person it’s good. It’s worth it.

Mary, our server is inspirational! Not only is Maya’s food delicious….we look forward being served by Mary. She makes certain our outing is extra special! I don’t think we’ve ever met such a delightful server. Thank you Mary and Maya’s! We will return soon!

I should have asked if the beef in the enchiladas was ground or shredded. It turned out shredded and I’m assuming the spices made it taste sweet. I had one bite and offered a family member one. It was terrible. I had already filled up on chips, salsa and chicken tortilla soup so I left it. Good thing as I didn’t felt sick all night. The others enjoyed their shrimp enchiladas and chile verde burrito. Possibly a bad night for them? The server was exceptionally polite.

Trying Maya Restaurant in north Morro Bay, was a nice surprise. Nothing truly amazing, and yet the food was quite good, service was fast and friendly, lots of booths and easy parking. I always try crispy tacos when available. These did not disappoint. The shells were fried, light and crispy. Not like the fake school cafeteria type shells served at some restaurants. The enchilada, burrito, beans, rice, chips and salsa were all tasty, too. I also enjoyed the view of the ocean, off in the distance. It’s family owned and operated with authentic flair. I’d definitely go again.

Chips and salsa at the table, perfectly portioned and flavorful meals (Fish Tacos with soup, rice and beans), right off the water at a fair price. Best waitress we found in Morro Bay, “Coming in hot!” Mary was the icing on the cake. We couldn’t have asked for a better way to end our day at sea.
