Amazing small town restaurant! Called a few hours before going to confirm a few items on the “online” menu were still available. A gentleman that answered the phone was very pleasant and confirmed the menu item in question was available. Our first visit found us a small town Millhousen walking into great reviews and high expectations. We was immediately seated just behind the hostess stand, I was unsure of the location until we had been there just 2 minutes. Our server, Angie was quick to take orders, kept our drinks full and answered all questions. Woman at the register checked on us a few times and allowed me to walk around and take photos before they got too busy. Reservations are recommended on weekend evenings but not required. Several dining rooms, bar seating and even tables by the pool. Home cooked food in small town family atmosphere. Home made pie (Butterscotch) was amazing! Highly recommended!

Deeeeelicious chicken…super crunchy but light, good saltiness, not overly greasy. Took two pieces of our “to go”…classic sugar pie (totally new to this “outsider), cherry pie that’s more of a cherry cream pie…both tasty. The pie crust seemed a little different. The staff was pleasant and helpful. We will definitely be back to try other menu items!

The chicken is the star of this restaurant although the country fried steak was really good too. We certainly enjoyed the buffet last Saturday and the nearly 80 mile drive was more than worth it. The salad was very fresh, the sides very tasty, and the pies were delicious. All in a quaint atmosphere. What more is there to ask?

Finally found time to head to the little town of Millhousen and definitely do not regret it! Homemade makes for good eating! They have a full menu but we opted for the buffet. So many choices: fried chicken, country fried steak, liver and onions, green beans, soup, salad, fried biscuits. Desserts are sold separately but are worth the price!

Our FIRST visit. Excellent home style buffet in an original historic brick roadside style building. You won’t be disappointed and I can’t wait to come back in two weeks.

If you haven’t eaten here, you should be ashamed of yourself! The buffet is awesome, and I am a board certified fat guy, so this message is fully approved. The folks were incredibly nice, the joint was super clean and did I mention the chicken was of legend status? Seriously, do yourself the favor and eat there!

Situated outside Greensburg Indiana sits this not so small restaurant. In itself the place is phenomenal. Let’s start with great service, friendly demeanor, quick, and knowledgeable. The food, which was from the buffet, was chicken, shrimp, and fish. It’s all hands breaded and the bragging is really fantastic! Before I take off on the fantastic food let’s talk about the owners. From a local I found the owners set up drives to feed the locals at Christmas as well as the wife dresses up as the Grinch. And there is hay rides. This might be the best family owned business I’ve come across in many years. Thank you for an awesome experience. Keep being who you are as there are people that need your love.

We found Stone’s Family Restaurant via Google Maps on our way back to Bloomington from Cincinnati and we were SO glad we did. The chicken, fish, and chicken livers were all cooked to perfection. The salad bar was worth the extra $4 or $5, as there was more than just lettuce and toppings. The pasta salad was very good, as was the fried biscuits and apple butter, and both were on the salad bar. An employee dips the food out at the salad bar for you, which I can certainly understand and appreciate, and you can make as many trips as you’d like. They also have a buffet, but we chose to order from the menu and add the salad bar, which turned out to be exceptionally reasonable. Their food is not drenched in salt, which I also appreciate. The pies are homemade and are said to be amazing, but we showed up in the last hour they were open and there were only 2 choices left (and we were already super full), which is why we took a pass. They also have outdoor seating on the patio by the pool. Staff was SUPER friendly, prompt, and courteous.

For a spur of the moment “out to eat” Friday night, it wasn’t bad. Quite the ‘que them up n move them through’ type of place. We didn’t have to wait longer be seated.

If you’re looking for home style food that your grandma made then this is the place to go. A lot of fried food and basic vegetables. Service was really good. Casual dining experience.
