Some of the best Indian food I’ve had in DC. I liked the chicken tikka masala specifically because it was very rich and creamy. A lot of places make it watery which I don’t like, but Cafe of India made it perfectly.

Great Indian food, and one of the best restaurants in our neighborhood. We have been about six times in the last year, and we always really enjoy the food. Chicken with pistachio sauce and lamb chops are among the standout dishes. Try it!

This is an absolutely wonderful place to eat. The ambiance is comfortable, quiet, and clean. The food is absolutely delicious; savory meat with delicious curry and don’t forget to get naan because it brings the whole meal together. And to top it all off, the owner could not be more hospitable. When a drink spilled on our table, he helped us move to another table and even have us a second dish for free. He went above and beyond. I appreciated his efforts.

I never had authentic Indian food and people pointed me here. I’m Very, Very, VERY, pleased and they have a new regular customer. They treat you like family from the time you walk in to the time you leave. I got the Bhula Lamb and Garlic Naan, it’s to die for. Thank you so much team at the Cafe of India, you all are truly the Epitome of Hospitality in the restaurant world.

Update 2022: we left DC three years ago and never stopped missing Cafe of India. On a trip back, it was our first meal. I’m surprised this place doesn’t have even closer to five stars.

I’ve been a regular here for the last three years for both lunch and dinner. The lunch thalis are consistently great with a menu that changes each day. The chai is very authentic. I’ve tried much of their dinner menu over the years, and the mattar paneer ki tikki and bhindi anardaana stand out. The service has been courteous and excellent all the way through, and is my only go-to Indian place on this side of town.
