20 stars if I could. We dined here tonight for the first time. We had the Wagyu beef/shrimp tempura Chef Specialty, Black Pepper Tuna Nigiri, edamame (of course), cold sake, and matcha tiramasu. Our server was knowledgeable, patient, and helpful for pairings. In fact, all the staff was polite, even to the guest who loudly asked if they served sushi (yes, that happened). Superior ingredients and plating compared to other sushi bars. Everyone around us had such beautiful, delicious looking plates, it was hard not to be curious! 1000% cannot wait to return and try more!!!

I’ve been here several times since they opened in December and everything is delicious! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting and the warm sake is perfect on a chilly winter night! It’s a really unique, cool addition to downtown New Bern- a place to come for sake, sushi and amazing ramen. The service is great and the staff makes you feel at home! It’s an equally good spot for a family dinner, date night or a business lunch. Or just to come sit at the bar for a drink and some small talk. LOVE IT!!

Fabulous fabulous fabulous! The place is always packed when we’ve tried to go at night, so we were thrilled to see tables available at lunchtime today! We sat at the bar to get a good view of the sushi making area, and it was fascinating to watch.

Our family dines here often and we can not express enough how much we love this restaurant. It is one of the only restaurants we will go to in New Bern because every dish is always delicious and beautifully artful. The service is spot on-super friendly and professional every time! This is a family owned business and you can tell they put their heart and soul into it. You are missing out if you have not yet dined at Kuma Sushi Bar!

This is by far the best dining experience I have ever had. Eating the sushi here was a spiritual experience. The service is fantastic. The atmosphere is upscale but not in a snobby way. We love, love, love Kuma. We will be coming regularly.

This was our 1st visit to Kuma since they opened. I’m not a huge raw fish eater but the dishes were out of this world. We originally thought the prices were a bit steep but once we saw the size of the portions we were ok with spending a little bit more. And besides the food was fresh and delicious! The service was wonderful. We couldn’t decide on a saki but the owner asked what we like to drink and we all are whiskey drinkers. He and a friend of ours recommended the perfect bottle for us. We will definitely be back!
