If you seen some of my other reviews, you may notice that I rarely give less than five stars. The reason for this is that I don’t usually write a review unless it was an excellent experience. I feel like it’s not my job to put anyone down, but whenever possible to lift up. This is one of those cases. I enjoyed my lunch at coops. I met Phillip and he was a great host. His wife is also a great cook. I had the special for the day which was the brisket, grilled cheese and a side of your choice. I chose dirty rice. At many places I have tried dirty rice and it is usually disappointing. In this case, it was over-the-top satisfaction; so much so that I bought an extra quart to take home. The grilled cheese was delicious and stuffed with tasty chopped brisket. I can’t speak for the other dishes, but what I had was delicious.

Our first time here as usually we are in Galveston on Monday and they are closed. Define the perfect Brisket and Pulled Pork Sandwich? You will find it here. Perfect bun, generous portions. The corn side was different and wonderful. The potato salad delish. And we are picky about our potato salad. (Put green olives in that and we are tapping out). So glad we finally stopped in! We will go back for sure!

No turkey today so they suggested the Heffin’ Hog with coleslaw, brisket and sausage. It was delicious!

Great place! My parents brought us some of their delicious BBQ sandwiches. We decided to get sides from Thanksgiving bc it was just us 3. They did NOT disappoint! Their cornbread dressing & broccoli rice casserole was just as delicious as when I make it but without all the work! I told PJ we were smoking the turkey on our own for the 1st time, he kindly said to email him if we had questions! It was so sweet of hike to offer! Definitely recommend this place for lunch. We will be back! P.S. We nailed the turkey!!

We eat here in June while looking for food ideas for our wedding and fell in love with the food and service. We ordered brisket, sausage, and pulled pork for our wedding in July and everyone had 2-3 plates of food. Every one of our guests commented that the food was great! Koop’s were very friendly and communicated efficiently with us the whole time and we would gladly get them for catering again or go dine in next time we are in Galveston !

Very disappointed. I’ve been wanting to try Koop’s for years literally. Very friendly staff & the BBQ sauce is MAGNIFICENT!!! Unfortunately the rest was pretty much thrown out. We went at 1:00 and they ran out of beans….

I ordered the “Special of the Day”, 3 Burnt-end tacos in coen tortillas with clintrano chimmiciri sauce, a side of potatoes salad, and ice tea. Delicious BBQ, great potato salad, and generous portions at a reasonable price. What’s not to like!

Our 1st visit even though we live on the Island’s West End. We had the 2 meat plate with brisket, pork ribs, green beans and coleslaw. Everything was very good. We just had water because the other drinks were bottled – no fresh tea. As I was looking at other reviews and they said Koop’s was BYOB. I called and yes they are – so wonderful because red wine would really go well with their meats. It is not your everyday BBQ so it costs a little more but I am more than happy with the price based on the quality. We will be back. Check Facebook as their menu changes daily.
