Our recent dining experience at Schulte & Herr restaurant was fantastic! From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and comfortable. The ambiance was perfect, with warm lighting, cozy wooden decor, and traditional German music playing in the background.

Schulte & Herr is small, cozy restaurant. You can tell it’s a family run place. The service is fantastic, and the food to die for. Everything from appetizers to dessert is fantastic. The potato pancakes are delicious, and I had the bratwurst which came with the best potato salad I’ve ever had (besides my Polish grandmother’s, of course).

Wow the best meal I’ve had in a long time!! Highly recommend the pea soup. The complimentary rye bread was also incredible. Got the goulash and squeezed some lemon, it was amazing.

This is a gem in Portland. This is authentic German food. It reminds me of the great food I had when I went to Germany. Everything has been simply amazing. I’ve ordered to go a few times, and had a party of 6 here pre-covid. It’s always been a great experience. The waitress maintaining all of the tables on a busy night was very impressive. She is probably the best host/waitress I’ve seen. She also helped me practice my German. The ambience is very comfortable and not pretentious. Candles lit at the tables. Paintings of Germany on the walls. The bread and smear was very nice. The potato cakes were amazing – crispy outside, moist inside, delicate texture. Not too vinegary, well cooked potatoes, perfect potato salad. Get the schnitzel with the mushroom gravy- it’s great!! The schnitzel is very thinly cut and pounded. My friend enjoyed their split pea soup. We got the chocolate cake with raspberries to go. It was great. Definitely will be back. One of my favorite restaurants.

Tiny little mom & pop shop with the best authentic German food ever! So good. One time when we were there there was another family and they said they drive over an hour to come here so their mother can have food like she had back home in Germany. Delicious! BYOB

This small place is a gem. From the mismatched tables and chairs to the plates and glasses, everything will remind you of being in a relative’s home. The restaurant reminded me of the places I would go to in Portugal, as most of the best restaurants are the small local places that make you feel like you are eating at home. The food is incredibly delicious and tastes extremely fresh. We went for brunch and we were there early and served by the owner. She was very friendly and offered suggestions on the menu. I loved everything I had and can not wait to return again for brunch.

Schutte & Herr is an amazing place for some German staples. Quaint place with great service that makes you feel at home. Tried the schnitzel, spaetzle, potato pancakes, and cucumber salad. All delicious! Additionally this place is BYOB with no corkage fees, so a great way to ensure you have your favorite beer or wine paired!
