They had multiple specials available that night. Plenty of drink options. Good variety of items on menu. Friend and I opted for burgers. They cook your burger to order (medium, rare, etc.) and get it right unlike others who say they do and don’t. Much appreciated. Have skinny onion rings which were good – small order was huge. Good atmosphere – had not been here in years but will be back.

This restaurant is a nice place to go with a small group and hang out. There is a full bar and menu. Our table got an assortment of dishes ranging from pasta to salmon. The food was fresh and delicious. The wait staff was very friendly and kept our drinks filled and brought out the order while the food was still hot.

Online menu says a cheeseburger is $10.95. Went there and they charged me $15. With tip and tax it came to almost $20. For a burger and fries. Told staff the online price that I was expecting was lower, they didn’t budge. Granted, the burger and fries were good, but not for $20.

This is a little more upscale than where I usually visit. Elegant but actually well priced. We ordered 2 different meals. Seafood creole was absolutely delicious with shrimp, fish, mussels, tomatoes, green peppers and more. Other meal was steak medallions with sweet potato fries. Perfect sear on the beef and very tender and juicy with a good salty taste. Fries were really crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside. Raspberry mule afterwards for her which was fabulous. I tried the Lagavulin 16 year 2 ounce pour. A bit strong but I wanted to try it out. Overall, a great visit for us. We would definitely return and try other dishes. This lady classed up the deco too! Spent about 75 but 35 was drinks. Server was really professional and fast. Food came fresh, hot and quickly.

Nick’s Bar is one of of the places we must stop at when we’re in Des Moines. The service is always good, the atmosphere is always relaxing, the food is prepared quickly with great flavor profiles. If you’re a fan of skinny/thin crispy onion rings Nick’s make some of the best in Iowa.
