The service was good, very friendly people. I bought the shrimp gumbo and unfortunately not only did it look unappealing, it tasted horrible. The broth was very watery, over salted and tasted like soy sauce. The rice was well cooked but shrimp seemed old and had an odd taste to it. Overrall the gumbo was not very good.

Superb! I ordered the cracklins and crawfish etouffee and both were great! I’ve never had etouffee and didn’t know what to expect. It had a bit of a kick and was perfectly seasoned. I didn’t feel the need to add anything to it. The cracklins were cooked to perfection as well…crispy skin, tender meat, and juicy fat. The owner is very friendly and is great at what he does! I cannot wait to try more of the menu!

Red beans and rice with sausage was really delicious! Had cabbage and green beans as sides and the cabbage was really different. I was pleasantly surprised by the slight sweet flavor. Portions were large and not too expensive. Also had some fresh cracklings that the nice gentleman working there made for us. I will drive the 45 mins to come back here soon!

I love finding the best local places to eat when on the road. Hidden gems like these are a highlight of my travels. Loved this place in particular so much I took about a $100 worth of food home. And let me tell you everything was delicious. Cajun food weekend was a big hit with my family! Highly recommended

I can’t say enough about how delicious the food was. I had red beans and rice with sausage (sausage was made by the owner), cabbage and green beans. The cabbage and green beans were very flavorful. I also got chicken and sausage gumbo to go. It was full of chicken and sausage (not skimpy on chicken and sausage like most other places). It was probably the best gumbo I have ever eaten in my many trips to Louisiana. Prices are very reasonable.

We happened on this place while looking for a place to eat after hiking at Bastrop State Park across the highway.
