Very tasty food, but I expected more at the price point.

What a gem! Friends took me to La Ciccia last week for a fabulous Sardinian dinner. The atmosphere, service and food were all excellent. You will need a reservation. We were there mid-week and the place was packed with happy diners. Probably a local favorite. The fish I got (see photo) was a miracle of flavors that combined in beautiful ways. I will definitely return. My dinner companions elicited sounds of happiness as they ate their entrees. The charming owner of the restaurant was a joy to talk with.

I took my boyfriend out to eat at this restaurant because he is moving to Korea and I wanted to treat him to something special before he left. We ordered three dishes and was planning on ordering more later. The appetizer came out very quickly, but then the pasta came out a whole 50min later. While we were waiting for our pasta, people who came at the same time or even before us was getting their pasta or their main dishes. After the pasta came out, the lamb dish came out 20min later. When I looked around, the table next to us, who came much later than us, got their lamb significantly before we did. We would have understood if they checked in on us or kept us updated but they completely avoided us and did not tell us anything about what happened to our dishes. It felt like the entire staff was avoiding us. They never apologized for the wait and barely acknowledged it. I don’t make a lot of money – I work part time and I’m a college student. But I saved my last paycheck so I can treat my boyfriend to something special and we ended up being very let down. I definitely don’t make as much money as their other customers and I’m also pretty young, so we might not have been prioritized. But that’s also really sad. I was looking forward to eating at this restaurant and wanted to come back with my family eventually, but my parents were also very disappointed when they heard our experience and said that they won’t be going either.

Sweet little neighborhood spot with authentic Sardinian (Italian) food. We ordered too much food but it was delicious so not regretted. Charmingly personal service.

Very fresh tasting food. Portions are smaller, but we didn’t mind. The chocolate Panna Cotta was a hit. Try the gnocchi. We ate so fast we didn’t get pics except for the flatbread.

I’m a huge fan of Italian food (well, who isn’t) but this is the first time I had Sardinia cuisine and… given the price, the whole experience didn’t impress me much. I’d say overall 3.5-4 stars. The spaghettis and the lamb were nice but not super impressive, the portions were small, and the service was just ok. Well maybe because I just moved from Chicago where you can walk in to any Italian restaurants and get top notch food with reasonable price—from hearty family restaurants to fine dining, so my expectation was really high. But anyways, still a nice restaurant that worth trying, although I don’t really see myself returning.

Very tasty. Authentic Italian cuisine. Get the octopus stew. Delicious! Pastas, specials are delicious. Washed it down with a Cabernet.

Everything is only okay. Does it taste good? Sure. Does it taste amazing and I want to go back? Definitely not. The most upsetting part was a prosciutto special appetizer that was a few strips of ham for $36 that didn’t taste like anything and was served with forgettable bread. It would be great if at least it came with a garnish, some capers, at least some fancy bread, and if the served mentioned how pricey it was for nothing… we all laughed at how much of a joke this was. We will not be back nor recommend this place.

Bottarga pasta was the star of the meal; the pasta was so chewy and it felt like I’m having a spoonful of sea. I wish I can go back and have it again soon!

Update: We went back again after the change in ownership and the food has improved since our last time so I’m updating my review! Spaghetti with bottarga was the usual creamy (not oily) sugo!
