One of the better quality nigiri spots in Portland. Similar to some of the top end omakase nigiri you’d find in Seattle. Nigiri flavors are subtle, fresh and complex. Order off the seasonal/daily menu for some interesting takes. Good sake selection as well.

It’s a little off the beaten path but this is one of the better sushi experiences in the Portland area. It’s currently only available by reservation online. It’s a small restaurant/kitchen (can be slow when it’s busy) but the food is excellent. We ordered the premium sushi omakase (8 pieces). The miso soup and the chawamushi (ordered separately) were great starters with rich dashi flavor. There was a small but we’ll curated sake selection. Highly recommend this place for a wonderful low-key sushi experience.

It’s so refreshing to have a high quality yet humble sushi restaurant in the area! It’s the kind of place you might find in SF or LA, but not so much here. We enjoyed every dish and highly recommend the omakase – great value for such excellent quality fish, most of which was imported from the Toyosu Fish Market in Tokyo. It is sparsely staffed, but you’re not here for a quick dinner. Enjoy the company of your party or your own with a selection from their sake list while you wait, which we thoroughly enjoyed. If they have the spicy plum sake, highly recommend trying it – it’s fun and delicious.

More traditional style sushi, beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. Order at least one item from the “specials” menu if you can. The owners are lovely; a very simple, quiet interior and worth the anticipated reservation time. We sat up at the Chef’s Bar and enjoyed every moment!

We got take out when they were still in the process of opening their dining room and then recently dined in for the first time. Truly a lovely dining experience! We sat at the counter and were served directly by the chef himself. We had several orders of nigiri that were on special and shared the mushroom chawanmushi and soba noodle bowl. Both sushi and hot dishes were delectable! Everything was delicately crafted, presented beautifully, and served at the right temp. They also offer several types of sashimi not often seen at other places in the city. Well-curated sake selection with helpful notes and reasonable prices. Efficient but friendly, inobtrusive service. It’s a small place but we never felt rushed. This was one of the best meals I’ve had in Portland. It’s the sushi we’ve been waiting for. Go quick before it becomes impossible to get a table!
