Johnnie’s is located in Venice, California. It is not the one in Santa Monica. It is right off Washington Blvd. It is wonderful.

I’m not sure what people in LA think that NYC pizza tastes like, but this isn’t it. I stopped in to order a “ready made” plain cheese slice, which wasn’t immediately visible on the counter. The person manning the register took my order and ~5 minutes later, my slice emerged from the back of the store. The pizza was extremely greasy, with far too much cheese and just a hint of tart, acidic-tasting sauce. The crust was also nothing special – flavorless white flour. Overall, the slice was extremely rubbery, similar to day old pizza that was refrigerated and then reheated.

Terrible chicken Parmigiano. Asked to substitute rigatoni for angel hair. Woman said no substitutes. Sorry excuse for an Italian eatery. Should close its doors. STAY AWAY.

People are very nice. We ordered 2 pizzas for more than 50$. We avoided the chicken pieces on the pizza because the tasted horrible and of low quality. Barbecue sauce tasted off-sour-. Margarita pizza had huge slices of tomato that really missed up the whole pizza. Overall was very bad.

Eh, $30 for a pizza that had so much cheese grease I could mop it up. The pizza is worth $10 but the real estate is $20 a pizza. CA is apparently so expensive that frozen pizza is a better option. You expect fast food to be low in nutrients but it helps to taste good. Staff is friendly but what staff isn’t these days, most are just paying the bills and probably have 3 jobs so to leave a bad review hurts them. Sorry for that part but it’s true, mediocrity has a downside especially when people pay mid grade prices to receive OK food. I get it , starving kids in Africa, but I doubt they would pay $30 if they had it on this pizza. I should have bought a steak dinner.

Had takeout dinner of white pizza with extra toppings. Delicious! I even ate all of the crust — not the norm for me — because it was light and crispy. Hubby prefers a thinner crust and thought there was too much “bread” but, despite that, did say the pizza was great! Located in a small strip mall, it was a snap to drive to, but parking was iffy due to it being delivery hour.

Wings didn’t taste right and showed up with no sauce on them. Restaurant claimed the wings had sauce on them and stubbornly did nothing to solve the issue. Anyway, pizza was OK, crust was a bit thick and didn’t resemble New York pizza in terms of look or taste. Not ordering here again.

Best pizza I have had. Fresh ingredients. Clean kitchen. We had the large shrimp scampi pizza with marinara sauce and garlic knots with marinara. The staff was friendly, and I cannot recommend this place enough. Support local businesses!
