My husband and I are here from Colorado. We ate oysters on the half shell 7 nights in a row at different restaurants here on IOP and Sullivans Island. Our last night before leaving we chose our favorite! IOP Raw won! No contest! The staff was excellent, friendly and attentive. The Mother Shucker was amazing. The oysters were opened as we watched and were clean and delicious! We hope to be back someday soon. Cheers

We liked this place but it was a little pricey for the serving size. The food was really good though and the staff and management were excellent. Definitely a local favorite.

Update 4/4/23: What makes the best oysters worth the price? The freshest, the coldest, the most flavorful and the most important thing: the shucker does a great job with a clean cut and full brine in the cup. Takes skill. Don’t miss the salad with the smoked almonds, bacon, artichokes and the best homemade dressing! Skip the stone crabs, they weren’t cooked quite right.

Fantastic. First time visit. Won’t be the last. Service and atmosphere was incredible. Ate at the bar more food than I would have imagined. Special shout out to Warren and Kara. Would like to think the VIP service was due to them, but I doubt it. Definitely a must visit. Five stars is not enough.

After eating around Charleston for the week, this was one of our favorite raw bar experiences! Great selection, super fresh, fast and friendly service. Excellent beer, cocktail, and wine selection as well. Staff took the time to thoroughly explain the differences in oyster varieties. Not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for, that’s for sure!

Can’t fathom the good reviews, unless they are from people not familiar with local cuisine e. The she crab soup was fairly good, although a little too thickened with flour. The pan cooked flounder was good, but not outstanding. The pasta special was Rigatoni with shrimp and vodka sauce. The pasta wastrels inedible… very tough and chewy. This wasn’t al denote pasta, but perhaps precooked and not freshened up before serving. The shrimp were also incredibly tough and overdone, which is inexcusable in a seafood restaurant on the coast. The vodka, sauce was short on taste but wouldn’t have too bad if everything else was good. The grits were gritty, not creamy, which is also inexcusable in this town known for grits. The baked oysters casino were so overpowered by the toppings that you couldn’t taste the oysters. We won’t be back.

Came in for dinner at 8:25 and was told by the teenage hostess that they close at 8:30 even though their online listing said they close at 9. I asked if we could still be seated since we were still just before 8:30. The hostess looked at her manager to see what he’d say and he rudely signaled to her not to seat us. He didn’t come over to explain, or talk to us just flicked his wrist to tell her to turn us away which I found quite unbecoming of someone who is supposed to be managing a nice-ish restaurant. They should defiantly update that their online listing to the correct closing time, work on their ground of house people skills, and maybe get that manager an etiquette class. My family had been excited to try the place because the reviews were good, but now we’ll never be back.

We had raw oysters, tuna tartare which was the bomb, chilled peel and eat shrimp which were well seasoned. Oysters were good also. We had katamari bay and murder point oysters, our fave was murder point. Oysters were on high side $ 18 for 6 but rest of menu was more in norm. Would go back again for sure. My son who is chef and very picky was also very happy with this place.
