We had a little language barrier yesterday when trying to ask a few questions about their menu. They charge you for more than two baskets of chips which we were not used to seeing at other mexican restaurant in Knoxville. Our group was a party of 5 and it’s our fault for not reading it to see if the extra charge was even on on there. I would have thought the server would of told us that the 3rd basket would be extra. One of our group good was cold. This was not typical of our normal dining experience, so something was definitely off.

So I’m eating at a nearby competitor, Taquila Amigos and decided to write this review about Panchos, because I wish I had gone there instead! I have been eating at Panchos for years, and I now appreciate even better their salsa. It is flavorful with cilantro and other flavors. The salsa at this other place is bland and (I hate this) slightly sweet. Almost like ketchup. Service here is slower than Panchos and less friendly. The Margarita is $1 more and not as good. Panchos has great deals on margaritas and even the regulars are quite good. And the food is good and authentic, unlike what was served to me here. At any rate, I really enjoy Panchos and won’t make the mistake of eating at this alternative again.

Great selection of Mexican fare. Excellent Chili Relleno! Carna Asada is a good choice, has egg and cheese, served with potatoes, green peppers and onions. Friendly, attentive service. Very good prices.
