Bit off more than I could chew. Literally and figuratively. I ordered an aptly named ‘train-wreck’ omelet, with grits and a biscuit. Omelet was half as big as my not small head, and 2/3-3/4 of it went into a to-go container for later. No joke, it’s probably 3 servings. The place itself is fireman themed and in a picturesque area. Reasonable prices and friendly service to boot.

We’ve come to Virginia for the past 21 years for a family vacation. We’ve eaten at Rudy’s at least 4 or 5 years in a row and have brought other family members along to join us. I LOVE the Rudy’s sauce. It’s great that veterans are given priority parking. The price point and value for the amount of food you get is impressive. The servers are friendly, yet a little too busy to be thoroughly attentive, especially when spending extra time chatting with customers they know. Last night’s experience changed our opinion of the restaurant. We would take a bite, swat flies, swat flies, and swat more flies before taking another bite (no exaggeration). This really turned us off. There was a table behind us that had not been cleared of dirty dishes from before we arrived and still was dirty when we left. There was another very large table by the windows that held dirty dishes shortly after we arrived through the time we left. I would imagine that dirty, unattended dishes help to attract flies. They have had many flies each year we’ve visited, but this time the flies were relentless. I recommend that the owner contract with an exterminator to keep the flies under control. I’m not sure if we will be back, which makes me sad. I really hesitated to write this review because I want this restaurant to do well, but needed to be honest about the fly situation. I wish Rudy’s all the best.

Rudy’s has some of the best breakfast I have ever had! We were all happy. The biscuits and gravy, potatoes, and bacon were the highlights for my crew. Really great service and great atmosphere. 8:30am got us there before the rush.

Found this place online after a long trip. Great atmosphere (the scenery below the mountains was Beautiful!) The omelets were huge and food was fresh. Kaitlyn our server was awesome and continually checked up on us throughout our meal. Definitely recommend and would be back if in the area again!

Very impressed by both the food and the prices at Rudy’s. A coworker recommended this diner to me and so I made an effort to stop at it. Rudy’s has a very impressive menu which can leave everyone in your family happy. Definitely recommend the curly fries. The prices were absolutely incredible.

My fiance and I visited this place several times while on vacation in the area. Rudy’s diner hits all the marks for food, service, and atmosphere. This place is firefighter themed and very interesting! Highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.
