Los Portales Mexican Restaurant was founded in April of 2006 by Jose and Claudia Ursua. Jose and Claudia met over 24 years ago while working together at a Mexican restaurant, fell in love, and soon married. Both Jose and Claudia shared a dream of owning their own business, and after many years of hard work, dedication, and help from Claudia’s siblings, that dream was realized. By combining their love of Mexican food and culture, Los Portales Mexican Restaurant was born.
“Portales” describes the entrance of a building or section of market in town which is generally reserved for food vendors or homestyle restaurants. It is with great honor that we used this name for our family-run restaurant.

Salsa! We had the opportunity to check this place out and so glad we did! It was a beautiful day, and there is a community eating area outside, Jose was gracious enough to serve our lunch under the Colorado sunshine. The complimentary chips and salsa are excellent. We had the lunch taco special which hit the mark. Two tacos, and small serving of beans and rice. Perfect. The food was flavorful, and my daughter thought the beans and rice were some of the best she had. Highly recommend.

Food was insanely good, best we’ve had at a Mexican restaurant in 20 years of living in Colorado. Had the fajita burrito with queso (bf really liked the slight char flavor), tacos de adobado (so, so fresh), and the beef flautas, which were good but not as notable as the other two. Chips and salsa were great, and the drinks were phenomenal. The Postales Margaritas were incredibly good.

Small, cute restaurant with all around friendly staff. We interacted with 4 people throughout our visit, and they all struck me as very kind and genuine.

We came to check out happy hour after receiving a flyer in our mail. We liked the food, but the margaritas were mediocre. We ordered the Portales marg, and it has orange juice in it. We watched them pour it pre-made which is fine, but the OJ had a stale taste to it. It was also really weak. We ordered a shot of tequila to pour into it. We also ordered food from the happy hour menu. We tried the chicken quesedilla and the Carne Asada tacos. Both were excellent. They could give you a little more pico de gallo, however. They bring you free chips and salsa, but the salsa is wayyyyy too hot. I couldn’t eat more than one chip. Too many jalapeños for sure. When they brought our bill, they didn’t give us happy hour prices on our drinks and one of the food items which were both on the happy hour menu. The owner tried to tell us the drinks were not on happy hour, so I had to pull up the menu to show him. I am not sure why he tried to give us dinner prices on the tacos at first too. He was happy to adjust our ticket, but had we not looked it over, we would have been fully charged. It made me wonder how often the establishment tries to do this to their customers. I would love to try some of their other menu options, but they are on the pricey side. I would suggest trying them out for happy hour first. We will likely come back for more food but probably go someplace else for drinks.

Amazing food and great service. We had just arrived from SC and this was our first night out in Colorado and it did not disappoint! Best start to our trip and can’t wait to go back. The queso fundido was our favorite app!

Complimentary chips & Salsa was so delicious!!! Friendly staff, clean fun decor. Rice and beans were tasty & I usually don’t eat those. The Chile relleno was super yummy and my husband enjoyed the chimichanga. We would come again.

I had an absolutely incredible dining experience at Los Portales Mexican in Littleton, CO. The star of the show was undeniably the steak fajitas. They were cooked to perfection, with tender and flavorful steak accompanied by vibrant peppers and onions. The sizzling platter created an enticing aroma, and every bite was a delightful explosion of savory goodness. The fajitas were served with warm tortillas and a generous array of fresh toppings, taking the experience to another level. I can confidently say that the steak fajitas at Los Portales Mexican are some of the best I’ve ever had.

Had dinner and enjoyed everything! Surprisingly good and inexpensive house margs, flautas were crispy and delicious, and still warm chips and salsa. Will definitely be back!
