What an amazing gem on Hamakua coast. The owner is so inviting and talks straight from the heart. The food was simple plentiful and delicious. Hard choices had to be made. My wife chose three dishes and I did too and we shared. The curry was to die for. Each plate was $12.

This place is amazing! Vietnamese inspired vegan fair with all the flavor. The first place I’ve found with actual vegan Pho that matches the traditional dish. The owner is super nice. Suggest getting the lunch plate sampler to get a lil of everything.

Wow what a find! Home made seitan and other fake meats. Only $10 for three items from the buffet tray. Vietnamese inspired. Spring rolls amazing. Owner is very attentive. Very good food but might be on the salty side. No mattresses in sight. Back room has additional seating and items for sale.

10/10. It’s truly precious that Vegan shop is offering authentic vegan Asian Hawaiian cuisine. Yummy, fast service, affordable. I appreciate how the owner really puts his thoughts into perfecting each dishes. For example, we love the delicious vegan pork belly, very hard to find in other vegan places.

This food was fantastic! My favorite was the pork belly made from rice flour. The second best was the fo fish. Sooo so good. The owner was very nice as well. I thought it was neat that this place is home to two very different businesses and so glad the owner said something or I would have passed it thinking it was a furniture store. I suggest it even if you eat meat, which I do. I just go to vegan places for my mom.

One of the best home cooked vegan food in Hilo I have had. And just $10 for a plate! Three choices. Pumpkin curry, pumpkin fried rice and egg cake (no egg) second plate was faux pork, egg cake and pork fried rice. A side of egg roles too with an amazing hot sauce. The owner is a real cool guy.

I LOVE this spot. The food is incredible, the portions generous, and the prices low. The owners a delightful. I really really can’t say enough good things. For context, I’ve been vegan for decades now— and this is my absolute favorite place to grab food in Hilo. The plate lunches are awesome and there’s practically no wait at all. The prepared foods are delicious. My face is the rice noodle pho!

Delicious and healthful vegan food at a reasonable price! We sometimes enjoy the other vegan establishments in Hilo but feel that they are overpriced and do not offer large enough portions for the cost. Vegan Shop is the opposite! A plate lunch will only cost you $10 and is piled high with goodness! Offerings change daily but everything is delicious and thoughtfully made. The owner of the shop is just delightful and truly has a passion for vegan cooking. We had the fried quinoa (made similar to fried rice with tofu “egg” in it) with roasted veggies and soy “steak” with teriyaki sauce. We paid a little extra for an appetizer of spring rolls and an oat “sausage” patty with homemade vegan sour cream. The owner also gave us a free chive potato dumpling appetizer to try. Everything was wonderful! And under $30 for two people. We will definitely be back!
