I’ve eaten all over NYC, near and far, and I have to say, their Chicken & Eggplant Stir-Fry is the best most wholesome thing I’ve ever had. For only $7.15 with a heaping serving of rice during lunch, this whole in the wall in the UES is a hidden gem.

In all of my life, I have never tasted Chinese food this bad….. do not buy the pork fried rice with general tso chicken. There are no words to describe how dreadful the taste was and I’m hesitant to try anything else… I’m sorry but it’s just awful.

I stopped in this place to get a wonton soup and an egg roll. What a mistake. I wasted my money on the worst wonton soup I have ever had. It was a chicken based broth when it should have been a beef based soup that tasted like it was made from bouillon cubes (nasty salt bomb), and the wontons weren’t even wontons. Look at my photos, just sad and bad. I will never go to this place again.

Food was really good!! As an avid noodle eater, the lo mein was the best in the UES. I really hope this place isn’t gone for good 🙁 come back! ❤️

Orange chicken was ok. The dumplings were stiff, thick dough, and lacking in flavor, even in comparison to frozen and hand-made dumplings. And the vegetarian meal was so bland, I would describe it as “unflavored”. They say new York food is better, but after moving from D.C., I still haven’t found equally good Chinese take out on the upper east side yet. I just need to look around more.

Very clean and delicious tasting Chinese food. The chicken is succulent and tender, not gritty or dry like many other Chinese food places. Also it doesn’t taste greasy, just very fresh and clean. I also like that they have unique sides like sauteed zucchini. Finally the prices are very affordable – where else are you going to get a full delicious meal for $7 at lunch with a big serving and full side of rice in Manhattan?

This used to be my go-to spot. The food is not the same. It is very apparent that the pandemic has taken a toll on this, what used to be a delicious “hole in the wall” “hidden gem”. The rice is bland, the soups are watered down to avoid high food costs, the portions are much smaller and mostly all inedible. It is sad that this has happened but if they cannot afford to make edible food, they should not be in business. I wanted it to be good. I really did. It just is not. You should find another spot.
