The Slippery Noodle Inn was originally founded in 1850 as the Tremont House. It is Indiana’s oldest, continually operated bar in the original building. The Noodle is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Originally it was a roadhouse (predecessor to the Holiday Inn) and a bar. It has traditionally been owned by people of German decent and it was one of the first German clubs in Indianapolis. The Noodle has been through several name changes over the years.

Go here because It’s the oldest bar in the state and that’s cool. Go here because It’s got live blues musicians all the time and that’s cool. The food is bar food, the beer is cold, the service was friendly and attentive. Easy to walk to and close to the stadium and monument circle. Definitely worth checking out.

I went here for lunch and ordered the French Onion soup and the Vegas Burger, which was so delicious. Then, I went back later that night with some friends, and there is a cover charge because they had a band, the cover charge to eat in there for dinner. It’s great food, but I wouldn’t go back when there is a band in there for that cover charge. We just wanted to eat dinner. So, I would stop by again for lunch but not for dinner. The Vegas Burger is very delicious.

The wings are great! Be aware they are battered, but the crunch is perfect. The house specialty nachos are excellent as well. Try the in-house IPA if you’re an IPA person!

Had high hopes… the wings dashed those. They were definitely big, but that was only because of the significant amount of fat on them. Some wings were about 75% fat. Not worth the price. The sauces were decent at least. Service was ok.

Definitely a hot spot for the locals. We were only in town for the weekend and stopped by when they weren’t super busy. Nice selection of beer and pretty attentive staff. The food was pretty typical bar food, but was enjoyable. Next time we’re in town we’ll definitely stop by again.
