All I wanted was a good cup of coffee. What I found was diner coffee that was not worth finishing. I drink coffee of all sorts and this was pretty bad. I figured that I would give the chicken fried steak a try and biscuits and gravy. This is my go-to in most diners for breakfast. The biscuits were small and hard. The chicken fried steak was clearly frozen and heated. The gravy was okay at best. I see now that there are a bunch of positive reviews and this is not to negate their experience.

New Mexico green or red sauce never fails! The breakfast burrito I got was the size of my shoe, cooked to perfection. I took chorizo as my meat and I loved it. I could bathe in that red sauce. So smoky and delicious. The place look like it froze in time in a good way. Every bite was an experience. If you stop in Gallup – you should give it a try!

After reading all the good reviews we decided to give the Router 66 Diner a try. We were not disappointed! The food was good quality. The fry bread was excellent, compliments to the chef! Stacy, our server, was friendly, helpful, and represented the diner well. We would definitely eat there again! There is a wide variety of dishes to meet the differing dietary needs that so many have. Thank you for a great experience!

So far we’ve been to three different restaurants on a quest for the perfect Navajo taco and Route 66 diner wins hands down! The perfect combination of fresh fry bread, refried beans, ground beef, lettuce, tomato, and cheese. We also enjoyed the western omelette and appreciated that the full menu was available all day. It really helped our group to find options that worked with the different dietary restrictions we have to deal with. Stacey took great care of us and we really enjoyed our experience! The atmosphere is nice, the portions were big, and the water was really good.

We are so glad we stopped here for dinner! The food was absolutely delicious. We had chile cheese fries (Christmas). I’m so glad she told us about the portion size as a reg was more than enough for 2 people. I’m normally all about Greem Chile, but their red is so delicious, I was even dipping my very yummy country fried steak in it. The country fried steak was tender, full of flavor, and a very good crust. The fajitas were perfect, tender, tasty, and very filling. We also enjoyed the salsa and could eat it by the pint. We will be back, next stop in Gallup. Good to go on Vaca, even better to come back home to great Chile. Thanks, ladies, for being so attentive and very nice.

A very authentic and classic diner with attentive staff, good service and delicious food direct on the Route 66 in a typical building.

Got there just before closing and Stacy graciously welcomed us in. We had yummy bacon cheese burgers with a big pile of crispy fries. Stacy was friendly and fun to talk to. Even enjoyed a chat with the proprietor, Sal. Clean place with a 50s vibe. Enjoyed!
