One of the best places in town. So historic and wonderful lighthearted atmosphere.

This is a new place in downtown Grass Valley where you can walk to shops and restaurants. They have a small menu for right now. Beer and wine only. It is very historic..they have had ghost tours here in the past. Indoor and outdoor seating. I had the 3 pretzels with dipping sauce..delicious! One of a few places open till midnight in downtown Grass Valley. Live music. Nice atmosphere!

We had an excellent time at the Phoenix last night. I wanted to write a review because this business deserves better representation. After reading some of the negative reviews I was hesitant to go here but because it is the ONLY late night food place in town I figured it was worth the shot. If you take into consideration the big picture here then this place deserves your patronage. The big picture being. 1) it’s the only place willing to stay open with a kitchen late night 2) they offer some sort of thing to do on the main strip like karaoke or live music 3) it’s a new business trying to get established and 4) the owner is super nice. The food is good. I mean we went late night because my folks just flew in and there’s nowhere else to eat. How awesome is that. The flatbreads were certainly tasty and I’d order them again. The beer was cold. And the karaoke on Wednesday night was hilariously great and awful. If you frame your expectations with what the Phoenix is trying to do in an area that is normally mostly dead at night but has the potential with all the new renovations to be a go to destination then they are doing awesome. I will certainly go back! Also did I mention there’s outdoor seating?

Wow, great food and a good selection of beer. They had my favorite on tap, Taco Truck from Dust Bowl brewing. My server, Jude, made sure my entrée was exactly what I wanted. The braised short ribs are the best. Foxy loves it because they’re dog friendly. We’ll be back!

It’s finally open! Fun spot in the heart of the newly renovated Mill Street. Live music, beer + wine, good food menu. They are open late (midnight).

Love this place to death. Great food, quality drink selection, friendly and attentive staff and always good live music and entertainment. Couldn’t ask for more in this town. See you there :))

We enjoyed their location on the enclosed street as well as their live music lingering out from their establishment . We sat outside, ordered from inside and brought out our own drinks, their menu does not excite the foodie enthusiast. Brie was ok, blue bread was just toast with a little cheese. Not impressed and will not return.

I never write reviews good or bad. But my experience at The Phoenix Taphouse was a bummer. I’m a proud resident of Grass Valley and all the unique shops and fun restaurants. I was looking forward to a new place in the downtown and had high hopes for the taphouse. Sadly, I will not be back. The food just wasn’t good.
