Really wanted to have a good burger. I’ve been digging around Oakland looking, was hoping Ben’s would be the answer, sadly it wasn’t. Menu is a very confusing, they’re really not sure what they want to be. Ordered the burger melt on sourdough, couldn’t believe how paper thin the burger patties were (see pics), it was a joke. The lettuce was thicker than the meat, seriously???. Owner doesn’t care to run a well put together operation, there’s no thought or design scheme with the building, furniture and decor, it’s just haphazardly thrown together. Name on the receipt is different from the name on the sign, there’s just a very weird vibe here. It’s also dirty with trash everywhere. If they had good food you could overlook the lack of ambiance, but the mediocre food coupled with a run down overall feeling means I’m not coming back and I’m moving on in my search for a good burger in Oakland. Ben’s is dirty, cheap, very poor value and overrated.
