Went for lunch. Wings were good and so was the French Onion soup. Bartender was super nice. However, I could have done without the (loud) burping coming from the kitchen staff that was standing at the end of the bar. That was a little disturbing to hear while eating. Also, bathrooms were not clean and the restaurant just opened. It was empty in there. Might wanna check the cleaning crew.

I returned to Grotto in Newark after having a positive experience on a previous visit. This time I came to take advantage of the 5$ off dine in large pizza special. The bar was fairly occupied and the large dining room was empty. I scanned the provided QR code and pulled up the menu on my phone. I was ready to order as soon as the server appeared. The pizza came out quickly and was not disappointing. Grotto pizzas have a unique flavour and you won’t mistake it for anywhere else. That includes both national chains and local pizza shops. The cheese and the sauce make it just right snd that, in turn, makes it just Grotto.

I used to come here in college about 15 years ago… what a dump!!!! The bathroom was FILLED with flies. The sink is a large basin with a turn handle like I’m on a farm. Nothing but dust on top of all the tvs that are smaller than all of mine at home (sports bar???) . Chain link fences on the sides of the tables in the back. The floors are bare concrete. The food was ok, but the atmosphere is awful. It used to be a place where you could go out to dinner with family/friends even during non-drinking hours for University of Delaware.

Worst pizza ever. Charged me $50 for extra sauce, cheese, and pepperoni. None of those are on this pizza. Dasher got an $11 tip. Stephanie, the. Manager, first hung up on me and then a total lying nightmare claiming I’m going to get a refund when I got $5 back. Do not order from Grottos on Main Street Newark. Second time cold pizz and wrong order.

Good Joke
Went there with a couple of friends to celebrate my birthday before we had any drinks, but the bouncers denied us because we entered the wrong way. Additionally, the same bouncer used some racial slurs to describe us as we left. Never going here again and highly recommend that you don’t either.

Was having a good time until I noticed a kerfuffle at the door. The bouncers seemed to be having trouble getting ahold of a patron’s nuts. After the patron left I inquired the bouncers about this and was told it was a way to verify the customer’s age. Very uncomfortable experience overall with extremely mediocre food. Will not be returning. I hope the patron can have kids in the future, but honestly I doubt it. The grip the bouncer had could put Peyton Manning to shame. You can only imagine how it felt for the denied customer.
