Clam chowder was delicious. Bread a bit too dry. Calamari was rubbery. I had a gift card to here, ended up with money left on it. Gave the gift card to a family. Was not going to go back again, why keep the card. My dinner guest ended up getting sick after we got home. Not a great experience

We were looking for a cute place with outdoor seating to take our mom for lunch on her 81st birthday. She loves fried oysters so we chose The Powder Keg. Every review that mentions how friendly the staff are is 100% correct, the nicest people on earth work here. Check in at the front door for outside seating – it is shady and the surrounding neighborhood is adorable. Our table of three had fried oysters, fried zucchini, a tuna melt, angus sliders with salad, and the chicken club sandwich. Everything was fresh and delicious. Great spot for lunch! Also take a peek at the historic Hercules Powder Plant brick office building located right behind The Powder Keg.

We went for the oysters on a Monday. My daughter and I love them. We finished 3 dozen along with splitting the ceaser salad. The oysters were a bit small, but tasty just the same. We have done this before and we have never got a bad one.

We visited on the recommendation of the owners niece. The service was excellent. The food was very well seasoned and satisfying. I would definitely go again. I ordered the veggie sandwich with sweet potato fries. My husband ordered the Cesar said with salmon. The Cesar salad come with anchovies which my husband said it was a nice salty kick to aid grilled salmon.

Pleasant atmosphere ~ seated quickly…staff was attentive, but could listen slightly better. We only ordered two appetizers: prawns – quite fresh! Cocktail sauce a bit sweet. Salad could use more ingredients & fresh tomatoes the champagne (prosecco) was very good reasonable @ $7.5/glass.

The atmosphere is good, they have tons of different drinks, from beer to wine, to lots of different spirits and cocktails, and a varied menu including sandwiches, burgers, appetizers, and kids menus too. Maybe it’s just that we ordered too much fried food, it seemed we left in our dishes a pound of French fries and batter from our fried fish. Although everything was tasty and delicious, I do feel the exterior layer of batter could be thinner to avoid extra amounts of oil and grease or healthier options (not fried) could be incorporated (soups, grilled/ roasted veggies, etc,.). I did appreciated that they had non alcoholic beer and THE BEST FRESLY SQUEEZED LEMONADE ever ! Combined it was refreshing and exquisite !
