****HUNDRED STARS**** My family and I loved this spot. We’re foodies and have a hard time finding restaurants with the atmosphere, quality/creativity of food, and excellent customer service. I wish we had taken more pictures of the food, but we devoured it so fast. If you want to try an amazing restaurant with a beautiful atmosphere, this is the spot.

This was my first time here but I’ve been here when it was called Nooshi (different owners). I enjoyed their happy hour dishes which were the sushi, crab Rangoon and the shrimp wontons. Everything was fresh and very flavorful. My sister and I ordered the margarita and cosom from the happy hour menu and I must say they didn’t disappoint.

What a great addition to the neighborhood. I have ordered delivery and also had lunch in the restaurant today. The food was delicious both times, with great service. Some really unique dishes that I have not seen on many (or any) other menus. The interior design changes they made to the space are really striking – it is beautiful while also very comfortable (love the chairs upstairs). The terrace is wonderful on a nice day. Highly recommend!

Replacement to Nooshi, Akeno is a new age sushi and Thai food restaurant. The revamped restaurant is filled with enough tchotchke to give it a new vibe and feel. Traditionalists might dismiss this place but, there is true skills and care in the curated sushi dishes presented. Good size, good portions, the rice seemed a bit off to me. One thing I wish wasn’t lost in translation was position placement of dish to the person intended to. Sushi chefs spend time w ea order and to have their dishes placed front side back or unintentionally, is painful to experience. There is a correct way and a wrong way in dish presentation. No excuses. Another thing off are the prices, it’s high.

If you’re in D.C., do not miss this place. They had the best sashimi I’ve ever had. The employees were genuinely friendly and welcoming, coming back continuously to make sure we were happy. The chef even came and spoke with us about where he sources the fish. They space was beautiful and quiet. We will be back anytime we visit the area again.

Was sad to see Nooshi leave but Akeno is a worthy replacement! Really fresh fish and beautiful presentation on the premium sashimi platter and the buri buri roll (double yellowtail). There were some timing hiccups between the kitchen and sushi bar that need to get worked out but the server was apologetic and a free round of drinks helped kill some time 🙂 They have a daily happy hour as well and a great rooftop.
