The Williams’ Family was born and raised in San Marcos, Tx. Owners include Blake, Kristin, and Halea Williams. Combined, they bring various skills and experiences, making The Groove a unique eatery.
The motivation behind opening the Groove Cafe was to provide the community with more nutritious options. Halea and Kristin both realized that ordering food online was resulting in guilt, but like many busy families, cooking was not an option.
They created Groovy Eats, a meal prep catering business within The Groove to serve local schools, senior living centers, and other organizations within the community.

They’ve got a cozy dining area which is nice and bright, the folks inside seemed to enjoy it. The restaurant has covered tables out front so I ate there. I got the Philly cheese steak and for $18ish with tip I guess I was expecting a more substantial sandwich. That being said the flavors were quite good. The meat tasted marinated, veggies were good and I liked the jalapeño in it, nice little kick of spice. Staff was super friendly and I wouldn’t rule out eating there again.

Food is fresh and delicious. Service is superior. Atmosphere enjoyable. Portions are large. The Banana Cream Pie French Toast was perfect, and enough for 2 people. I ordered Garden Bowl with chicken and can’t say enough good things about it. Will definitely go back when passing through San Marcos again. Wish they were open longer.

So happy we found this place, it has become our favorite breakfast spot. The food is amazing, haven’t had anything I didn’t like. The breakfast sandwich is hands down my favorite though. The staff are so great and super friendly. The whole place is chill and inviting and we love the healthier options.

We always like to find small local joints to try out the food. This one did not disappoint. Emily was our server and she was wonderful. The decor and atmosphere are very chill. We had the hummus to start. It was, hands down, the best hummus I’ve ever had. It was a garlic hummus with pistachios on top. We both had the fruit salad and soup. The salad was a delicious, refreshing bowl of spinach, blueberries, Strawberries and raspberries. Topped with goat cheese and candied walnuts. But the best part was the homemade raspberry vinaigrette. Lastly, was the chicken and dumplings broth. Immediately I noticed that the chef took the time to slightly sear the chicken before putting it in the soup. They always say you eat with your eyes first. Next the dumplings were homemade not biscuits from a can. Even though it was a hot, July afternoon the soup went down well. Incredible flavor. What a great place. I’m so glad we stopped.

The best and freshest food I have tasted in a long while. This is probably one of the most underrated restaurants that I’ve ever been to. The Steak tacos were amazing. My wife had a Veggie Frittata that had so much flavor. Call ahead and make a reservation, it’s worth it!
