Ordered a large plain pie and was asked right away to pay. I was then told the pizza would be ready in 10 minutes. I arrived 10 minutes later and was asked to pay second time. Upon my original entry, no other customers was asked to pay for their orders except for myself. Mind you, I was the only person there of African American descent. I suggest people of my nationality to spend their money at the Trattoria of Carmel instead of Mahopac, the customer service in Carmel is much appreciated!!!

I was very happy dining at this restaurant. First time here and will be coming back for sure. This place makes me feel like I am eating Italian food in the bronx again. Large portions, family run, clean and good service. Very hidden from the main road but also worth the trip!

My family has been coming here close to 30 years. Recently ordered a plain cheese pizza to stay. The pizza came out right away and it was clear that is was old, pre made pie that was re heated. The top was burnt, the bottom was rubbery cold, off colored and the cheese was coagulated where the slices were pre cut. The staff insisted it was made fresh but it was apparent it wasn’t. They made us another pizza (taking double the amount of time than the first one) and it came out looking like a normal fresh pizza. The differences between the 2 pizzas were so clear. The owner came out at the end and said sorry we didn’t like the first pizza it was “too well done for us” and that is was because it was they “were too busy tonight” swearing they didn’t serve us an old re heated pizza. I can’t believe the audacity that they would first serve that to someone and then still claim they didn’t. And mind you the restaurant was basically empty. Only 4 tables including us. Very disappointed will never be returning.

Went here on Saturday May 13th, as a party of 20, after a funeral at Yorktown Funeral Home. We went towards the back, which is their party room. Food took an awfully long time to cook, but maybe it seemed longer because we were hungry, and it was busy for mother’s Day weekend. Appreciate them for accommodating us, as many other places were booked. Because we were in the party room, it was a limited menu meal- so only 3 options were listed and available. The training server gave us a hard time because he didn’t know if the meal came with anything, nor explained the menu. it was also our first time here, so apologies for not knowing the menu! Other server seemed a bit nasty too, but someone in our party wanted their meal to go, and probably talked to the manager, and the server was better after that. We started with an appetizer of fried mosseralla, fried zucchini, eggplant parm, and clams. We had to ask what the food was when it first came out though. It’s important because what if someone had a fish allergy and didn’t want the eggplant touching it? we also got salad. I asked for my dressing on the side, and got it when it was ready, but the server was kinda nasty about it. I put my dressing on the side because sometimes there is too much dressing! the dressing was delicous though. We also were served Penne ala vodka, which was pretty good. As far as our entrees, we had a choice of chicken parm, flounder franchuze, and steak. many ordered the steak and the chicken parm. I ordered the fish, however, it would help to explain what the dish looks like, what it comes with, including any opinions like is it cheezy? i liked my fish, but it was kind of salty. i ate all of the string beans and the fish though. the potato croquet that was served was very cheezy, didn’t like it, perhaps would have preffered more string beans if it was offered. Finally, we were served some pasteries like carrot cake, something that looked like an eggclair, chocolate cake, neopolitan, and some coffee. again, would have helped explaining what the food is, some is obvious but others, eh. Anyways, overall pretty good food, and maybe sometime we’d check it out again to order things from their regular menu.

Great place to eat! Only wish there was more parking. The owners are the nicest people. And seriously, this is THE BEST italian food in mahopac. Dantes has been a staple here for more than 30 years.

Dante’s has great pizza. A classic NY pie that has all the characteristics of what old school pizza should have. The only reason I can’t go five stars is consistency, which is huge for me. I need it to be great everytime, not hit or miss. Other than that, I did have a great pizza experience at Dante’s. I still recommend it, and hopefully you catch them on a good day and have the same experience I did.

The young waitress I had on 2 visits is pleasant and professional. The very thin piece of veal on a wedge I had was indistinct and couldn’t be tasted. Overwhelmed by bread.

As longtime customers of Dante’s, we have only accolades to say about this restaurant.

Best old school Napolitano ristorante in the tri-town area. No frills, no special concoctions to attract millenials. Your choice meat 5 ways, choice of pasta 10 ways and your choice of sauce 20 ways. A few genius combinations that are fire 100% but the proof is in the pudding. Pizza and entrees can’t be beat by even the more fancy spots in Central pac. Giuseppina e Pasquale know the business better than the Bx competitors

Ordered a large pie at 5:30 and was told 45 minutes wait, ok. Walked in 45 minutes later and stood there waiting another 15 minutes. 0 chance I am waiting an hour for a cold pizza.
