I never do this.. write bad reviews… but… the shrimp toast was black and burnt… the general Tso’s chicken was soggy… and the pork fried rice … I think I found 2 pieces of pork. I called the restaurant… to talk to them first.. before I thought of making this post and the woman I spoke to was yelling at me and hung up! I was nice, I did not even think about writing this. But I work hard for my money.. thought I would give myself a treat and have some delicious Chinese! Please go elsewhere. This was a huge disappointment and when I called to let them know… they yelled at me and hung up. Please see attached photo of gross burnt shrimp toast… yuck

The food was great!!! The people where very nice, except for the delivery driver. Who drives a black car he’s very rude vulgar and LAZY. He doesn’t like to come to your door God forbid if you live in a apartment building. He will call you and sit in his car and tell you the doors locked. He wants you to go down even after you explain to him that someone is opining the door for him. He gets really mad and he actually told me never call number 1 again if I can’t come down stairs. Mind you I was very sick and had no energy to go down stairs. This is not the first incident that we had with this same driver… Another time he got in the building and was standing inside by our elevator instead of just coming up he lied and said the door was locked!!! He actually was already in the building… HE’S A HORRIBLE DELIVERY DRIVER WITH A BAD ATTITUDE AND IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN I WON’T ORDER FROM NUMBER 1 ANYMORE!!!!

Truly, the best Chinese food place in the Branford /East Haven area. Food always comes out piping hot, well seasoned and seemingly fresh. The workers are always very nice, even if you make a mistake ordering they’re happy to correct it with minimal hoops to jump through front desk is always very nice and the kitchen seems to work very hard they deserve a higher rating then they have now (3.5). Always worth a little bit of a drive.

They were very kind and friendly. It seems people either had a wonderful or terrible experience, which is funny. Mine was wonderful. I couldn’t hear well over the phone and the called me back! The food was delicious, perfectly cooked, and arrived quickly. I especially loved the noodles with sesame sauce, fried chicken wings and chicken gizzards which I hadn’t had since my trip down south. I will be ordering again and trying new items.

Number One Chinese Restaurant is awesome! Easily one of East Haven’s best Chinese joints. They ALWAYS customize my order and do it RIGHT, everytime!
