I know it’s called A pizza pub, but YOU HAVE TO TRY THE FISH! Hands down this is the best fish I have ever had. The places is a total dump, but it just gives it some charm. Try it, you won’t be disappointed.

Pizza is good, but well known fact with locals is Sals has best fish in town. (Sorry #2 Passtime Fish House in Jeffersontown, #3 Mike Linings out Cane Run and #4 Cunningham’s on Harrods Creek). I’m a self appointed fish expert, my family owned a seafood restaurant for 7 years. Trivia fact, Louisville, KY eats more cod per capita, than any city in US that is not on the Ocean.

I had the Fish Platter at Sal’s Pizza Pub. The Icelandic cod had a nice thin batter and the tartar sauce made in-house was very good. Lots of friendly regulars and locals frequent the restaurant. The owner Scott was very nice.

Sal’s cooks tastier wings than any other place I’ve found in Louisville. The wings are only average size, but fried to crispy perfection. The sauce flavor of your choice (he has 6-8 varieties) is then tossed over. The result is not overpowering, but the enjoyment explodes through your taste buds for a momentary feeling of perfection. Unlike a lot of wings, the flavor does not linger for an aftertaste that conflicts with the other elements of your meal- not even the hot buffalo, my favorite, nor the garlic herb, my second choice. The pizza here is also among the cheesiest I’ve ever had.

Attractive female wait staff who were super nice, however, they seemed to be a little over worked and more attentive to their regulars, which is both understandable but ashamed. Their mozzarella cheese was tough and chewy and the extra toppings I requested and paid for were almost nonexistent and terribly minimal portions, especially the sausage which looks to grated/shredded!

I know this is a pizza place but I feel obliged to say that they have the best fried fish, hushpuppies & tartar sauce in East Louisville. The only detriment to getting their fish platter is that the French fries are kinda soggy & low-quality. If they were fried a bit longer or in hotter oil they’d be much better. Better seasoning wouldn’t hurt, either.

Fish was fantastic, but when the server asked if I wanted fish and chips, I immediately thought of the English fish and chips so I was surprised when I got home and found potato chips. My bad and I won’t do that again but the fish and slaw were fantastic!

Stopped in for fish sandwich and order of wings. Had read some positive reviews and was in the neighborhood. OMG I was not disappointed. Waited a little bit for the most delicious food. The fish was thick and fried to absolute perfection. The homemade tartar sauce was this side of heaven. The wings made my tongue slap my brain it was so tasty. This is a bar. But the food defies anyone’s culinary taste. Server was polite and attentive. I therefore advise you go and visit Sal’s. Soon. See you there.
