When you need dumplings and want them now Shanghai Dumpling King has you covered. These are some seriously delicious dumplings in a no frills – straight to the dumpling sort of way. Dont expect any fussy small talk from the staff – this place is all about the food. Make sure to get the green beans and cucumber salad they are awesome and the dumpling are pretty darn good too. My advice – order something off the main menu too – or else an all dumplings order can be very glutenous. This is a non fancy – straight to the point eatery. And do yourself a favor and skip the bathroom – it’s not in business for the facilities:)

Shanghai Dumpling King was amazing! The service was top notch and the atmosphere was cozy and comfortable. The food was some of the best Chinese food I’ve had in SF. I had the sweet and sour pork, chicken fried rice, and spicy wontons – each item was perfection! It was light and fresh, and the price was very reasonable. I highly recommend this place and give it 5/5 stars!

Some of the freshest dumplings around. If I lived closer I would be there once a week. The lamb dumplings were phenomenal. Very welcoming. Quick and excellent service. One of my favorite places while visiting San Francisco.

This is by far the best dumpling spot in San Francisco. You can tell that each dish is made with lots of skill and love. The atmosphere is casual but the food is absolutely top-tier. I can’t recommend this place enough for lunch or dinner in the Castro.

I’m originally from Shanghai and came here with the expectation to have authentic Shanghainese cuisine. It’s very disappointing. The food here is very far away from what it should taste if you are looking for authentic Shanghainese food, pretty salty in general. I ordered Shanghai steamed dumplings, pan fried dumplings, wonton soup and Tofu salad.

We had a delicious meal here. We ordered all the usual suspects. Two orders of soup dumplings, one pancake, spicy dumplings that had a nice peanut sauce on top and dan Dan noodles. All were really good, nothing was really that spicy. My least favorite was the pancake but it wasn’t bad. The staff were very sweet. There was no crowd on a Monday night.
