The food is no better or worse than any of the tourist traps served up with faux pretense in Taos or Santa Fe….the reason to stop here is because Victoria and his wife are hands down, the sweetest most genuine people on Earth.

Stopped in for a burger and shake on our way out of town after helping out with the Calf Canyon Fire. Fantastic story of a fantastic family. Enjoyed the food and shake, prices are fantastic. A must stop if you’re ever in the area.

Victor’s is a must stop for a quick bite on your way up to Taos. Definitely a top 3 lifetime chili dog for me and finished it off with a $2 ice cream cone. Can’t beat it. You can be in and out in as much time as you want but I’d recommend hanging for a bit. Its the kind of place that you get one thing and then get a couple more things. Highly recommend!

What a lovely cafe? My husband and nephew came here last week for a quick bite to eat on our way to Pilar. Our hosts were attentive and we enjoyed our food. Although they did not have anything vegan on the menu they helped with making a tasty salad for me which I enjoyed. I would recommend this cafe if you are in the area.

You’ll find polarized reviews here on Google and here’s the reason I think why. You go for miles before passing by Victor’s that if you’re really hungry you’ll love the place. There aren’t even gas stations for miles in order to get a quick bite that you’ll find it like an oasis if you’ve been craving even a snack for a while. In that sense it’s great and perhaps a five-star place given that it’s probably the only roadside eatery around. However, if you’re only judging the food for its quality and not for the lack of eateries around, yeah it’s lacking a lot. I had a burger and enjoyed it (because I was starving) but the meat was a little dry, no special sauce or anything to make the bun + patty feel a little special, also the onions were chunky. I also tried the grilled cheese and it was nothing out of the ordinary, it came on a solo plate wrapped in aluminum. Sort of what you’d get taking some food home at a friend’s party. That being saif if you happen to be around and are starving, do stop and eat. Other than that, don’t make this a must-stop, must-taste attraction and get your hopes up for a great mom-and-pop-diner experience

Victor, 78, and his wife, Barbara, opened this little place in 1971… 50 years ago! It probably hasn’t changed much and that is a good thing! They have burgers to enchiladas and most anything with ice cream. We loved the enchiladas and chili cheese hot dog! They were great on a chilly day. Victor and Barbara represent a time quickly passing. They are the real deal. Congratulations on 50 years!

This is a great family owned place! They were super friendly and genuinely cared about checking on you. The green chile has a great kick to it. The burgers are filling. And their shakes are really good. They accommodated my request to make a chocolate cherry shake!

Alright, let me get this straight before you guys see the 5 stars and go there thinking this place will be super good. So, let’s start from the beginning. The only thing that might been 3 star Worthy is the fries, they were the only thing nice and crispy. Me and my friends wanted to try this place based on reviews and the fact it was cash only thinking that this place was going to be the best. We walked in there with high hopes. Then we were hit with super weird people, and terrible milkshakes, grey burgers, 0 flavor at all. Terrible atmosphere. It was like another dimension. I’ve never had such terrible food, customer service, and cleanliness. They also cooked the shrimp with the fries, which I’m allergic to shrimp. So I had an awful allergic reaction to the food there. Bland, disgusting, and just the wrist experience I’ve ever had. Will never go back, never try again. Glad I didn’t die, and add I wasted money on this place. McDonald’s is luxury compared to here.

Such a great roadside stop on the High Road to Taos. The owners are two kind, elderly folks and they serve a big, solid American burger with classic unsalted shoestring fries. Feels like the epitome of the US.

I often pass through Penasco on motorcycle rides and decided to try something else. Great place and very friendly owners. Very good green chile cheeseburger. *Cash only* (I don’t blame them), which I had forgotten, but they prepared my food while I went a mile down the road to an ATM (at a small store just east of the Family Dollar). How nice! I’m not the chatty type, but I genuinely enjoyed my conversation with them and their friend. I look forward to my next trip and visiting with them again.
