Calypso was a restaurant that was a pleasure to eat at some of the best tasting food I’ve ever had. The way they cooked The Pompano fish was delicious. Their muscles were seductive, and the service was pretty great too. The overall atmosphere was very interesting as it’s in a very large plaza that’s not the nicest but they’ve done a great job on the inside with the decor giving you a real island, vibe and theme. All of the their dishes have a lot of Caribbean influence, that make them very delicious although I can’t tell whether or not it’s authentic maybe that’s a good thing. I wish their crowd was a bit more diverse art things considered but overall, I think this place provided a great experience.

This hole in wall impressed me with their meals!! Did appetizers, entree and dessert. I will be back for more! Spicy cucumbers had scotch bonnet sauce which was kind of spicy. I used it to dip my conch instead of in clarified butter. For non-pepperheads, it’s as hot as habaneros.

If you’re looking for the freshest fish and seafood you have to try Calypso! I’ve been a customer since my childhood and it’s fantastic! Real Florida atmosphere and some of the best dishes around!! Jodi is the best waitress ever! (Shown in the picture) I had the Tile Fish grilled so yummy and I barely got to take a picture of the conch fritters because they’re so Good!! Minimal breading and full of flavor

If you’re looking for great customer service and consistently delicious seafood as well as Caribbean delights, be sure to visit Julio at Calypso. The fish dip has that slightly smoky and spicy flavor. Looking for some island flavor be sure to order the Roti. Want a burger but not.. The Shrimp and Scallop burger will not disappoint. Every dish is cooked and served to perfection.

I’ve passed by Calypso several times and it’s always busy. So after reading reviews I decided to check this place out and I’m so glad I did. This is a hidden little gem if you’re looking for seafood in Pompano.

First time here because I was craving fish and it was delicious! We had hog and grouper and everything tasted fresh and good seasoning. The service (Allison) was great (we didn’t wait much for food to come out) she was always on top of her tables and the place was very clean with great ambiance. We will definitely be back!

Don’t let the fact that it’s next to the Laundromat fool you. The food is delicious and not overly pricey. We ordered the stamp and go fish cakes which were incredible. The shrimp were huge and perfectly cooked. Our waitress was very helpful and explained the menu and offered suggestions which were spot on. The key lime pie was top ten. Not a very large place so you might have to wait when it’s busy. Wish I had found this place earlier in the week so I could have visited more than once.

I have been eating here since the place first opened across the street. Long-time fan and I can attest that it is better than ever, even with new owners.

Fresh seafood plates, good service. It gets packed during the lunchtime rush so I would recommend to try and get there before 12 or after 1. The coleslaw was surprisingly good. The cod fish cakes I ordered were just okay in my opinion. They were too fried for my taste. I will be back to try something different because the options sound (and smelled) amazing.
