Being an African-American from Chicago, I feel that Cracker Barrel is hit or miss when it comes to their service. Mostly in the South, I have figured out that the service is based on the region. I recently dined in Spanish Fort, Alabama. When our server arrived, I felt as if I was back in the early 60s when she greeted our table. She was rude for no reason. Short with her conversation and very snappy with her responses. My wife and I ordered our entrees. When our food finally arrived, it was room temperature, and it appeared old, not fresh. I asked our waitress for the side cornbread that came with our meals. She rolled her eyes and stormed back into the kitchen. I could overhear her arguing with the cooks. She came back and placed some mangled muffins in front of us. (See photos) Both my wife and I decided that we weren’t going to tolerate this level of service. We got up and paid for our meals that we did not finish eating and left. We both felt that the waitress was either having a very bad day or she simply did not appreciate or wanted to wait on a person of color. I say the latter of the two. I know that people of color love to dine out and patronize establishments. However, please always write reviews to let owners know about this type of behavior. I do not want to accuse Cracker Barrel of being a racist or prejudiced establishment, but sometimes, their staff’s treatment and behavior when it comes to serving people of color can be a little confusing.

Keep driving past this place. Sadly, gone are the days of good customer service in a clean relaxing restaurant. This branch of the chain needs a serious overhaul and a positive hand to guide it back to pleasant dining experience. It started with a unorganized hostess that couldn’t even find us on the waiting list and tried to say I never checked in though I had 2 text messages to prove I had. She seated us at a dirty table with a SLAP of the menus on the table, spoke not a word to us and promptly walked away. We placed our order 10 minutes later. Waitress brought our drinks and a basket of dirty silverware (pictured). When I asked for clean utensils, she returned with plastic ware. At least we could trust it was clean. Food came cold and over cooked. While we ate the waitress was bussing 2 near by tables. She repeated slammed the dishes into the tubs so loud that we were surprised none were broken. We used to call this restaurant one of our favorites. So disappointed and probably won’t return.

She gets you going right away if you’re in a hurry! Shanair is able to help you navigate through all of the wonderful goodies that the store has to offer. I’ve been here, several times. And I am never disappointed. My food, is always on point. Always. I would recommend the maple bacon chicken myself. But let me tell you about Robert. He is an associate, always at the front, ALWAYS respectful, ALWAYS polite, and ALWAYS helpful. I came in today 12/12 at 8:50. Although I was having trouble deciding he told me take my time, he would make sure I got my takeout. And that he did with a gentle voice, pleasant demeanor, and a smile on his face. He is great!

We visited Cracker Barrel about 2 Sundays ago for dinner and it was awesome. This was my first time ever eating at a Cracker Barrel. Upon arriving, we were seated in a few minutes definitely not a long wait. Walking to the table I see this big giant fireplace and was elated. I love fireplaces and have done so since I was a kid. We were waited on by a very nice, prompt and attentive waitress. We had no issues with her. We order drinks and food which took me a little while to figure out what I wanted because everything looked so good. I ended up getting the fried catfish, baked potato and side salad. My Partner ordered a breakfast for dinner and it looked good as well. This place brought out my salad and blue cheese dressing with enough dressing y’all. I didn’t have to ask for another container of it. They brought enough and that was the first time that has happened anywhere because usually I’m requesting more salad dressing. That was definitely a plus. Then we got our food…lawd it was so much food that I had enough for lunch the next day. The food was amazing and very much so a Sunday meal similar to grandma’s house. I’m definitely looking forward to returning to this restaurant. Then on top of all of this they had this beautiful country store that had everything you could imagine. It had clothing for adults and kids. There was candy and snacks. But the best of it all was the Christmas trees and decorations. OMG the trees were beautifully decorated with every detail you could imagine. There was also holiday themed snow globes and I’ve always had a love for snow globes. Goodness this establishment was right up my alley with things to see, do and definitely eat! I would recommend Cracker Barrel for any meal of the day. I was completely amazed. This is a great restaurant for a date night or family gathering. This establishment is wheelchair accessible as well. Just be careful in the store as the aisles were just big enough for a wheelchair to go down to check things out. The kids will love this store especially the big giant candy and old school soda bottles. Go and enjoy!
