This place is amazing. The foods were delicious and I would say the most authentic Indonesian food, specifically from West Sumatra region. I’ve never had Indonesian food since I move to US that has the flavor this hit so close to home.

INDONESIA (via Eat the World Los Angeles) – You can imagine Toko Rame being around after another 40 years and changing about as much as it has in the first 40. After being told about it from friends, new customers at that time will be so delighted by their meals that they will tell others. Time goes on and food and trends change, but Toko Rame will keep its hand steady and satisfying.

This place has a very authentic feel and an extensive menu. I am not very familiar with Indonesian food, so I ordered their combination sampler, which comes with five different options wrapped in a big banana(?) leaf. I enjoyed everything, especially the beef rendang and curry. The iced tea was also surprisingly delicious! I can’t wait to come back and try everything else on their menu!

It’s mom n pop’s restaurant…nothing fancy but the food was pretty good. We had Martabak as appetizer and it was really good. For the entree we had Nasi Bungkus and Satay, both were tasty. I also had Cendol (kinda like bubble tea but different stuff) after eating and it was ok. Service was good and friendly but a little slow for the food to come out.

Delicious true Indonesian fare but slow slow slow. Understand this abd you won’t be surprised. My Indonesian wife love the sate Padang, a rare find outside Indonesia. As an American who has traveled to Indonesia many times, I like so many of their dishes.
