This place has been renovated! No more communal tables but the dumplings still taste the same! The soup dumplings are must to try here. They are the best! Very soupy inside and pack with flavor! The Chinese food are good too but this is probably a go to for soup dumplings!

Joe’s Shanghai is an absolute gem! I had the pleasure of trying their soup dumplings, and I must say they were simply outstanding. Not only were they big, but each dumpling was bursting with mouthwatering flavors that left me craving for more.

Although the interior has been recently renovated, the Asian fare remains top drawer at this spot on the edge of Chinatown. Not necessarily built for solo diners as the portions are huge and built for sharing. The crab and pork soup dumplings and shredded beef with string green beans I had were well flavoured but not as spicy as other Taiwanese cuisine. Service j is rapid but friendly. You usually have to take a ticket and wait but the queue moves fast.

I recommend a visit to China Town if you are ever in New York. If you get to visit, definitely go to Joe’s Shanghai. It is an awesome experience. Just a word of warning….They only take cash! The atmosphere is posh casual. The food is incredible. I tried some things I had never had before! Everything was great! Try the soup dumplings if you have never had them before! I had the orange beef and it was top notch! The service was great. They cleared dishes and poured refills right when you need them too!

This is the second time here. Used to be a small family style place. Now, it feels more commercial with less focus on the quality and taste of the food. Service is very quick, more like a conveyor belt type restaurant. I came here for the soup dumplings, which were better last time.

The best pork soup dumplings I’ve ever had. We went during the week at opening and it wasn’t too busy. We also had the chicken fried rice and it was also so delicious. The staff are efficient and friendly. The restaurant is clean and airy. A must try if in NYC Chinatown! Thank you again.

This place is very unassuming when you first walk in. But the food is delicious and the service is excellent. Just be warned that the portions are massive. We ordered three dishes for three people to share and probably could have gotten by with one that we all agreed on! But we very much enjoyed everything that hit the table.

Long wait outside while we waited for our ticket to be called and beware, they only take cash – so no credit or debit cards. But it was well worth the wait.

Decided to stop by during the couple of hours we had in the city. We were there on a Thursday evening and had about a 10 minute wait. We had the pork soup dumplings, crispy beef, and General Tso’s chicken. I liked the consistency of the dumpling and the flavor of the broth. I definitely recommend learning how to eat them properly before eating! (Otherwise, I would have been lost!!) The hubby really liked the Gen Tso’s, and while my crispy beef was tasty, it was very, very salty.

I have been waiting to come over here. There’s always a super long line to get in but finally! At first glance, everything looked really nice and classy. But when we were seated, I saw the chairs were worn out. The cups and plates were all cracked and chipped. Very disappointing. The ice in our water all had black spots in them… Food was ok. The dumplings dried up pretty quick. The corn and chicken soup was ok, lacking of flavor. The pan fried noodle was not up to par neither for someone who really likes pan fried noodles. Pricey meal and service wasn’t great.
