Prefacing this by saying I loved the restaurant before it changed hands. The current restaurant was a gamble for me, and it hit my expectations perfectly. As in, the service was trying but they didn’t quite understand how to manage things, the food was not very good(the only decent thing being the tempura) and the Takoyaki I ordered felt like a frozen food. Not that frozen is particularly bad, but they must have barely thawed before cooking it and the insides were mushy and unappetizing. As well as not being remotely hot when served(some of the meat was still cold.) They also served the Takoyaki so late, it might as well be a dessert. The rolls that I ordered are passable, though the “spicy” wasn’t quite spicy, and I find mild salsa spicy. Their menu is decent, and has more variety, though the prices have risen. I will tack on that the water and tea were good, no complaints unless having lemon in your water bothers you. Overall, it was a huge disappointment, though maybe they will learn as time passes. In which case, I’ll come back to try everything again.

The original owners sold about a year ago. The interior has been updated nicely. All new staff. Who could use a bit more training. Not as attentive as previous staff. Food is as good or slightly better. Prices have gone up, but not out of align.

Good place. They do put wasabi under the sushi, so heads up. The sushi tasted fresh, nice big portions that came with both a soup and salad. The service was nice.

Wow, wish I could say something good about this place, what a disappointment. We waited 20 minutes to get our order taken and then another 30 to get our food. Spicy tuna rolls were nothing like I ever had before, tuna with a dab of spicy Mayo on top! Chashu ramen was more like wanton soup with soy, no flavor at all and not in a creamy chicken broth like it should be. Ordered Yaki Soba to go before we got our food and that also was terrible.

Hidden Jem in Novato. Lived here for 20 years and never went here for some reason. Decided to try it and was blown away by the food. The restaurant is great and the food is better. Every dish and the sushi is great.

Compared to other sushi places I have been to priorly, I will say the lighting is rather brighter (therefore less to my liking). The other sushi places have larger vegetarian menus (the idea of raw meat and fish grosses me out). I did like the garlic tofu. Not the best, but I appreciate the provisions of a sushi meal which is quite often just the right amount of food at not too high of a price.

Went here not too long ago, and was sorely disappointed. Not sure if the business is struggling to make ends meet but will definitely not be going back. This place has affordable and good food. However, on this occasion I paid for my entire families meal of about $100 and went to pay and the service was terribly poor. (We waited for over an hour to get drinks and food and often had to go find the waiter to ask for what we wanted) and then when I paid, the waiter griped me over the tip and wouldn’t let us leave until we gave him more. “It’s supposed to be 15%.”
