My then-Boyfriend/now husband introduced me to Sparty’s Coney Island way back in the 90’s. Their food portions are large and worth the value. One of the best meals to split between two people is the Sparty’s Special Omelette – a six-egg monstrosity with cheese, diced ham, green pepper, diced tomatoes, and onions which we substitute with mushrooms), two servings of American fries, and eight half slices of your choice of toast (it’s always Rye for us). This meal is quite filing, plus you can’t beat the price point at $19.75. Their Detroit Coney Dogs are tasty and wonderful – getting six of those on Tuesdays for $1.99 each (with purchase of one regularly priced item) is a great lunch time value. Lastly, we’ve come to know the staff so we’ll (Wayne the cook, Jen, Sarah, Heather, etc.) that they are like family to us. The food is wonderful and consistent, the prices are reasonable, the staff is super friendly, and they definitely keep the coffee flowing. Sparty’s Coney Island – Definitely one of Greater Lansing’s food treasures.

On a whim we stopped at Spartys for brunch. Some of the prices shocked us (the meatlover omelet for $17.50) but then other prices were great. My husband got the smoked sausage omelet and I got the gyro with onion rings. We shared a plate of chili cheese fries. I was surprised that the gyro didn’t come with feta on it so I added it. I was pleasantly surprised by how much feta they put on it, as well as how much tzatziki was on it. I have been craving a gyro and I was not disappointed at all. My husband was pleased with his omelet as well. The chili cheese fries were underwhelming I would say. Not a lot of flavor at all. The server was friendly and attentive without being annoying.

Compared to others in the area, the food was not disappointing for a Thursday morning breakfast. Food was served quickly, the servers were friendly and attentive to guests. The Gravy was too thick and over salted for my taste, but the burrito was a large portion and the potatoes were seasoned well.

Had the Maria’s Meat Lovers Omelette with home fries and toast for $17.50 at breakfast. Didn’t have the pancakes, but highly recommended if you can eat one.

Love a good coney dog and chicken tender pita! Good place for classic diner food and fast/good service. Would recommend!

My FAVORITE breakfast stop in lansing. Busy, fast paced atmosphere. Makes me feel like I’m in a big city with small town charm. Great menu, hard working staff, love this food. Polish Kielbasa with a side of fried potatoes is my go to. Never gets old.

Great, simple diner breakfast. Fair warning, the portions are huge! Their service is super quick and the atmosphere is fast paced. Perfect for in and out service.

Honestly, this place would have gotten 3 stars if it wasn’t for what I saw during my visit. They had 2 line cooks, and between the two of them, they didn’t wash their hands a single time during my visit. I watch one of the cooks toast all the bread with his bare hands, cut them, butter them up, and place them on the plate. The whole time, they wiped away sweat, touching other food, touching other people, all without washing their hands.

Genuinely enjoyable place. The staff was friendly and warm, the atmosphere was unaffected and genuine. Note: the pancakes are HUGE. A double stack is borderline too much food even for two. It was cool to see whole families and solo diners as well. Glad this place exists. Feels somehow busy and bustling but peaceful at the same time.

First when I give five stars across the board I hope everyone understands that’s in comparison to other similar type places. This place I consider a breakfast lunch non-franchise privately owned small restaurant! comparably speaking to similar places this is five stars hands down. Service is great, food is great, everything about the place is excellent..
