My family came here during our vacation, and we were a little leery at first just because of the outdated building, but ignore it! The Cuban sandwiches were probably one of the best sandwiches I have ever tasted! The meat in the sandwich was New York style, and you could tell it is authentic. When we were here it was lunch hour, but we got our food relatively fast. In conclusion, the owner and his workers were welcoming, and I hope you can share a similar experience!

Chattanooga native here! If you are looking for the best food, friendliest staff, and most hospitable owner you’ve found it! Try the muffuletta and black bean soup. The house made dressing is EVERYTHING! I couldn’t pinpoint what herbs were in the soup but it was perfection. I’m convinced this sandwich can heal your soul. Also, make sure to touch the little wooden cars when you order for good luck. Someone really cool made them !

The only saving grace of my experience today was the cashier and the gal that made our sandwiches. And the food was good enough. I pulled the menu up on my phone before I walked in for two reasons. My mom was outside with her dog, and it was 2:45 and they close at 3. So I wanted to be able to order efficiently without having to hold anyone up. I walk in and get in line behind a guy finishing up his order. It’s my turn to approach the counter and I am greeted and also respond, and look to my phone to order. Before I can the owner pretty rudely prompts me to use the paper menus on the counter and mentions that he’s a real human being who can take my order. I explained that I was okay with the menu on my phone. Apparently that wasn’t the right thing to say. It was a pretty uncomfortable interaction honestly. I never once felt like the menu on the phone was going to come between human connection. If you don’t want people using that menu then don’t have one posted? I also don’t agree with “the customer is always right” but I am not a rude or difficult customer and was made to feel that way before I could even order. I guess the “New York style” is the demeaning attitude. Wish I would’ve stood up for myself and gone to Jimmy John’s. Would not recommend.

September 2022: We’re back again! This time we came as soon as they opened. The specials of the day were a Cuban sandwich and Reuben sandwich – we bought one of each and loved them both. Bruce and River Street Deli remain a must for us when we visit Chattanooga.

I have been a patron of this place ever since it opened over 20 years ago. It is my hands down favorite deli in Chattanooga, and there is no comparison ANYWHERE! It is a must to eat here if you’re going to be at Collage Park or the N Shore area. I drove from Ringgold, Ga just to eat there. My fave is the Rare Roast Beef with Borsin Cheese Sandwich and their Seafood Salad. All the different tastes in each come together with a burst of fresh flavors. You WILL NOT be disappointed!!!!
