The ambiance, service, and the house were amazing!! The food was subpar and quite bland for southern food. I’m from SC and it definitely didn’t taste like home cooking. Menu needs some updating, flavor, and freshness. The biscuits were rock solid. The house was amazing!!

My husband Michael and I were traveling from Maryland to Florida and we stopped in South Carolina and had lunch at South Of Pearl. When I say the food was great. I can’t say enough how good the food is here. I don’t usually go back for seconds, I did this time. The atmosphere was so inviting, the staff and customers were really nice. They treated us like they knew us forever. The restaurant itself is just beautiful. We where even lucky enough to meet the owners. They were just as pleasant and polite as everyone else. Very friendly people. If you are ever in South Carolina you must stop in and check out South Of Pearl you will enjoy your meal. Michael said the fried chicken reminded him of his mother and she was an excellent cook , that statement from him was a big compliment coming from him. Thank You again South Of Pearl owners and staff for a great time and treating Michael and I like family.

My teenage daughter, husband and I enjoyed a lovely lunch today at South of Pearl located in the Historic area of Darlington, SC. Lunch is served buffet style with a delicious selection of meats and sides. A fresh salad and soup were also offered. Take my advice and make sure to try the dessert. Today’s dessert was a delicious banana pudding. We will definitely plan to return.

With a different menu everyday, it’s sure to please everyone. I have been every day of the week and every day is good. This is the first time I’ve visited in a long while since I no longer work in the area. Nothing has changed and the food is a amazing as ever! The southern hospitality and atmosphere is something I have truly missed! I promise you will not be disappointed!
