I grew up on the North West side by Portage Pk. and we used to ride our bikes to Sammies little stand to buy “Gravy Bread” for a quarter. It was French bread dipped in the beef juice it was cheap and we loved it. But when your talking HOT DOGS I might be partial but Sammie’s WINS HANDS DOWN! Other joints might have hand cut fries but Sammie’s adds an extra condiment that as far as I know no one else adds, no it’s NOT KETCHUP. Along with the usual mustard, onions, bright green relish, tomatoes, pickle, sport peppers and celery salt on a poppy seed bun Sammie’s adds fresh cucumbers and believe me it makes all the difference in the world. Sammie’s is no longer in the city and that’s fine cause neither am I so they have several locations that I can still enjoy their dogs at. Give one a try, you’ll see the difference. The extra meat gyro plate is pretty lean. Also recommended to make the meat extra crispy and get everything on the side. Sauce on bottom is better and is less messy. Fries are good.

worm !
not personally a fan plus they put the lettuce and ketchup on the bottom of the hamburger for some reason and so the bread gets all soggy and falls apart in your hand. tastes alright though
