Just got a pizza from Rocco’s, which has down-sized and is now on Main Street. They make the best pizza. Ever. It is as though their crust improves every month, lol. All of the folks that work there are nice and very professional. The place is spotless. All of the employees follow COVID protocol. We have been going there over 30 yrs. Love them.

Food was good, but I had a $21 main course (Salmon/Penne in vodka sauce) and didn’t get any bread or salad. (No one in my group did.) I also waited a long time to get my water glass refilled and had to ask to get that to happen. I was with a big group so maybe that was part of the problem, but we did have reservations made days in advance.

I like to think it was off on one night. But in all cases, if a restaurant cannot be consistent then it is not good. The food was terrible and the wine even worse. The salmon piece was small and dry and the vegetables with no taste. The pasta sauce was very watery. Not only the wine list is short and awful but there is not even a mention of the year on the list. This place for sure is not taking anything seriously. I don’t predict a long life for it if things will not change soon.

Rocco’s restaurant has some good food and is a nice setting for a family sit-down meal or a date, but where I feel it shines is the by-the-slice pizzaria tucked away in the back! Went today and had a delicious BBQ chicken slice, a pepperoni slice, garlic knots, and a bottle of Coke. Decent pricing for the quality, and the staff are pleasant. Definitely one of my go-to spots for grabbing some quick grub when I’m in downtown Madison.
