Every time we go to Lake Tahoe we have to make a reservation at Capisce. It is a little taste of Italy in South Lake Tahoe! Their food is delicious, the staff is kind, and the ambiance is amazing! It’s tucked away and definitely a hidden gem. Make sure to make reservations ahead of time. You won’t be disappointed.

Service was a bit slow, they seemed a bit understaffed. I am allergic to mushrooms and requested no mushrooms, but plate came out with mushrooms making us wait an additional 10-15 minutes to get another plate. Once we received the proper plates, the food itself was really good and the calamari was cooked nicely.

They were clearly understaffed. Our waitress was very nice but had been forced into double duty as the hostess at the front door too. We weren’t acknowledged at our table for 15 minutes after sitting down, then it took another 15 to get our beverages. The place was not busy but from what I could tell there were 2 waitresses total, including ours that was also having to do hostess duties. If there was a manager present, they should have been hosting… Unless they were cooking lol.

I decided to try a new Italian place on this side of the lake with my young daughter. They had a kiddo menu but she wanted a different sauce. The server didn’t know how to handle that at all. Though it came out just fine, the food was underwhelming – for example, the focaccia was anemic, just white bread with a few bits of onion and rosemary – and the service seemed stressed. There are better options just a few miles away.
